Clio 16v Screen Washer Problem

Stopped working on way to work this morning. Guessed was out of fluid even though I check often. Got home and its half full but just nothing working. Front wipers wipe, rear now doesnt and no fluid comes out. Guess its fuse or motor related but now too dark to look.

Bit dangerous with all this crap on the roads !!!!

Any1 come across this themselves?

Can you hear the motor going?

I had a problem.. that it would work but only a very small jet came out of the front! Like, just enough to hit the windscreen at the bottom but no more.

So swapped the front with the back motor.. thinking, ok, the back doesnt need a massive jet.. tested them, they both worked at full power again..

yeah ive had the same problem, but just filled it up to the top and its ok again! Short hose or something?

Weird how the front wipers work, rear doesnt. And all jets dont. Cant hear a motor so guess its fuse. Gonna just get up early and look.

And MOT is due this month so maybe a warning

My rear one doesnt work. Swapped pumps with the front and the pump works fine. Theres just no power coming through the lead.

The washer bottle is stepped and the front pump sits lower than the rear. This ensures that you are left with fluid to clean the front only.

All washers dont work, front and rear. Rear wiper too but teh fronts still wipe. Guessing its teh switch as the operations that dont work are where you push/pull on teh stalk. Those that do i.e. the front wipers are when you press down on the stalk, so guess its knackered in the push/pull direction.

Only obvious thing I think it can be. Bew switch is £67 plus VAT from Renault or £35 - cliosport discount plus VAT from GSF. Trying one from a breaker for £15 first.

At least youve got a rear washer...the previous owner of my car removed it and filled then sprayed over the hole. Apparently it makes 0.0000000000000000004 secs difference 0-60 !!!!

check all fuses and check the pump is recieving a feed when you operate the wiper stalk.

What a cold day !!!!

Took switch out and ampmeter reading said it wasnt that. The good old Haynes manual states there is a sperate realy for the front and one for the rear. Could not find teh rear one so the blue relay at the left of the fusebox on passenger side is actually for front and rear. Contacts have been cleaned and that was the problem.

Nice of Haynes to get it right in the first place

So if any1 has problems with theirs would suggest checking the relay first and give the contacts a good clean. No messing about with steering column then.

Phase 2 N reg. Worth taking the relay out, checking contacts and give them a clean.
