cis arent bad but they will not be that good with a hot hatch

they wouldnt quote me on fiesta rst in my name, but since i had 2 yrs with them in my dads name wanted £2500 tpft, other than that they wouldnt touch me !

mate i dont mean to sound rude, but at 17 are you sure your experienced enough to drive a valver??

the insurance companies charge that much for a reason.

Good point Dan.

I know youll want summit nice and quick, but you really dont know how inexperience you are at 17.

I wrote off my first car (modded AX GT), which wasnt my fault, but if I was more experienced like I am now, Im sure I couldve done something to avoid the accident.

The last thing you want to happen is spend all your wedge on a nice valver and insuring it, for it all to go to waste.

I know you probably think you wont have an accident in it, but the reality is most 17yr olds do have an accident with their first car....

i think most people have some form of accident in their first cars! whether it be a little bump or writing it off.

( i wrote my first car off after 2 months!! )

i would advise to get a banger, get a crash out of your system, build up a few years ncb and get a valver in 2/3 years time.

True, mine was wrote off after 3 months, and had to spend the next 9 months driving a sh*tty Nova. No offence to Novas, but mine was a tuely abused 1.4SR as that was all I could afford at the time.

Even if you only wait a year, a years ncb (hopefully) and the fact you will be 18 will be a lot better with the insurance. & you will be a much better driver too.

lol, thats alright mate, most of em have been abused! commonly by burberry boys! lol, although most of the burberry boys seemed to have moved on to 1.2 16v clios with lexus lights now! ;)

*runs for cover before i start a clio v nova war*

ive been tryin to get quotes for a while now, im 17 wanting to insure a valver, best was 2200 TPFT by elephant, which is still a lot of wedge, im waiting for a year or so now. get some more experience and cash together, itll be worth it in the long run!

Depends where you live matey. I know a 17 year old who was paying 1800 for a 1.1 Escort Bonus in London.

Also back in 1997 (when i was 18) had a mate who was paying £3000 for a heavy modded 1.6 Orion Ghia (Just because of where he lived and no modds declaired). At the time I ran myself a quote with Direct line for the same car and got it for £1200. He was pissed!

My first insurance was £450 on a 1.0 Metro back in 1996:)

Cant believe they even quote a 17 year old on a valver these days

My first car was a 1.2 clio and I went sliding on ice into the curb and bent the subframe !! That was an experience that changed the way I drive !! Infamous saying "you start learning to drive when you pass your test" and its true the real experiences come from real day to day driving !! BE CAREFUL and dont write off your car or injure yourself !!

BTW im 18 but sound like a 40 year old !! Easy now !!

  20VT Clio & 9-5 HOT

my mate is 19 with one crash and pays £2750 TPFT on a 5GTT! crazy! the car only cost him a grand!

best advice for you mate is prob go get a new 1.2 16v i think you would probably get free insurance off renault for that, tootle about it in that for a year or 2 then get a quicker car. If you do bump it, there will always be second hand parts for it. Thats what i did, drove a 1.2 extreme for a year now ive got a 172!!! yee ha!

if your 17 get and RT in sensible land a 16v will be far too powerful for u and ull trash it into something in no time.

Its pointless buying a valver and insuring it TPFT. As others have said at 17 you will lack the experience required to drive this type of car and should you stack it, youll be left with nothing. Go for a RT or something equivelent.
