Clio 172/182 side strip removal

  172 Cup & Mini C 1.6
Hi guys

I want to take the door strips off so I can give it a good clean up behind there. I hear that they just slide off

Help would be hugely appreciated

Cheers

How I did it was, open the door and you'll see a small rubber grommet level with the door trim. Pop the grommet off with a screwdriver and you'll see a clip. Use a screwdriver to slide the whole door trim towards the rear of the car. Once you push it far enough the whole trim will come off including the bullet.

To refit just put the trim back on and push towards the front of the car until it clicks into position then refit the grommet.

I'm not sure how to remove the rear quarter trim but it's a bit more complex and involves removing interior trim I believe. You'll be able to find out on here somewhere or someone will let you know

Hope this helps

Lol it is a bit daunting I must admit. I thought I was gonna break a clip or something but it was fine. At least you know how to do it if you ever fancy attempting it again. Cotton buds are a good idea and it's surprising how much dirt those door trims collect.

The rear ones slide like the fronts do, no interior removal needed! My fronts where SO hard to remove, felt like they were glued on. I used a flat head screwdriver wrapped in gaffer tape to prise it out a bit, then got my fingers in & pulled it back (so the clips slid towards the rear). Shouldn't have been but it was a massive pain in the arse.

Edit: Mine wouldn't slide with my hands alone, & it was pissing me off. Hence why I made a gap & pulled it! Any probs give me a shout.

Thanks for clearing that up Mendizmo. I thought I read somewhere on here ages ago that if you remove the door cards then you can get to the clips on the inside but like you say that's not necessary. Yeah mine were pretty solid aswell but came off fairly easily using my method.

I found pushing the trim in while sliding helped do the front and rear a lot easier. Although some jockey had silicone the old ones in places so had to break them, luckily I had ph2 ones to go on

I don't blame you mate, it's such a pain to do. My old 1.2 ones pretty much fell off but the ones on my cup, Jesus!! It's worth getting them off though, I got so much crap out from behind.

I sat there for 25 minutes mucking about with it when I come up with the cotton bud idea. So off I went to raid the mrs make up draw lol
