clio 172 campare

Hi Guys and Gals,

this is my first post and its quite a dumb question,

my mates bought a saxo vts and says its really fast,

ive checked out the bhp and its 120 but only just under a second slower 0-60, what do you guys think, is there a comparison between

my clio 172 and his saxo vts i know theres 52bhp difference but the performance figures are alarmingly close.

yes it can be close if the vts is driven by a nutter but you really have to cain the gearbox

it has an advantage its very light compare to the porky 172

I think itll be alot closer than nearly a sec slower to 60 m8. They are very under rated cars. As Dogmaul says, they are a lot lighter and if its a newer VTS arent they 130bhp?

STD 172 CUP O-60 6.5 0-100 16.9 (EVO)

std VTS 0-60 7.7 0-100 21.5 (EVO)...... BYE BYE VTS . & before anyone starts i dont give a monkeys jism about modded VTS that 1/4 mile in 14+ so what... STD vs STD no chance... and if i want more i will get an even faster car... rather than strap some mods on ... (MY choice i know!) Having previously had a 106 Rallye virtually same as Saxo i know what i prefer now .. Saxo / 106 old tin box (YES they are good quick cars .... BUT for the cash... thingsa moved on a lot... (When VTS came out it was more expensive than Cup is now... Lets wait to see if they do a decent C" citroen... they have given a taste with the VTR but its a bit s l o w...

mine is totally standard and so is his saxo, so if i cained the 172 and he cained the saxo on a long stretch of road up to 100mph, would i thrash the saxo or would it be basically the same with the saxo slightly trailing?

sorry to be pushing this but im gonna race him tonight (in a legal way of course ;-) ) and i dont want him to be giving me jip about 52bhp more and i only just beat him, then again in the words of vin diesel

"it doesnt matter if you win by an inch or a mile, winnings winning"

cheers lads.

Yep, winnings winning, and you should leave him for dead over a long motorway duel. Round a track though and they will be very close.

It might also depend if youve got a strong 172 or a weak 172, and whether hes got a freak of nature VTS or a normal VTS

good news then aye,

ive only had the 172 for a month and its only 1yr old

his vts is 1year old too and absolutly bog, anyway fcuk it the 172 looks sh*t hot and the vts looks like a common frigging vtr, on the looks dept i guess im miles ahead,

motorway it is then lads hehe.

Theres little difference on the road between the two. Up to 60 both cars in standard trim are very evenly matched. Its only when the 172 hits the VVT in third gear that it starts kickin ass....unless your following craggy then you can just forget it.

Id have said the 172 would be comfortably ahead all the way if both drivers are competent in thier respective machines.

Ive driven and "raced" a Vts and if my 1.8 16v can comfortably beat one I dont see any reason why the 172 couldnt stand on the top perch!

Are you sure he isnt trying to beat you to make himself feel better? I reckon he knows hes got a slower car!

standard for standard eh?

Craggy did a 15.5 i think when his was virtually new, Ive heard of 172s getting this time (and worse!) before now....

WTF? the VVT in the 172 is there for smooth idling purposes only! The surge you feel from about 4500 is the car coming on cam
