clio 172 miss firing??????????

  clio 172
hi there people, brought a clio ph1 172 around a month ago and was all fine realy impressed, until it started miss firing, ive just fitted a set of magnecor leads hoping it was a lead braking down, but no still the same.
i conntacted the former owner to see where he used to fill up,he said either asda or tesco so know im thinking dodgy fuel, but the ecu light has never came on,any ideas, should i change the 02 sensor if so where do i get one, thanks.

doubt it will be dodgy fuel because if the o2 sensor if effected dont think the car would even start. However if you've only been using 95 ron might be causing a problem?

remove the engine cover, and at the back you should see the coil pack with 4 cables coming from it. Turn the engine on and using some plastic plyers (important) unplug each of the 4 cables, look for one where there is no spark. If you find one without a spark youll need a replacement coil pack which is about £50 and easy to replace.

If all 4 are sparking you will need to check the spark plugs.

Can someone do a sticky outlining the difference between the words 'bought' and 'brought'? Drives me crazy on this board!! Brought is to bring as bought is to buy - see?!

NGK Platinum.

They are standard fit as supplied OEM from new and last a good while.

Just had some fitted to mine.

your not gunna get super performance from spark plugs , but every little bit helps ,though it will make a little difference .

i dont suppose ngk's put your car's performance up do they ? or make it run smoother or so on and so forth ?

Sorry about delay Michael, answer is yes i noticed a slight improvement in power delivery. Although mainly noticeable over 4000rpm.

I put same in as OEM, so improvement shouldnt be colossal anyway, although originals had done 52k miles.
