Clio 172 price drop

Is it me or are mark 2 172 clio's losing there appeal? It seems like they are really difficult to sell for decent money nowadays. Cars that should sell for 6k are going for more like 5.5k and less! Great if your in the market to buy but s**t if you are selling up.
Not a problem if you are keeping yours in mint condition though and not planning to sell.

i've been browsing 172s for sale, and i've noticed this. But i'm going to be buying soon, so i'm not complaining!

If I were to buy right now I wouldn't pay anymore than 5.2k for a decent 172 ff/cup with cambelt change. If your picky you may have to pay 5.4k

I didn't understand it when I was selling my 172, but now being in a buyer's position, I can see why. I know I would certainly pay the extra couple of grand and get a 182 with cup packs. All the creature comforts of a 172 ff, the handling of a cup, newer condition, lower mileage, slightly better looking. All just little bits that put a bit of daylight between the two models.

Bought my 172 for £4895 in october, reckon i'd get 5k for it now so i'm not complaining.

No such beast! The 172 cup always attracts a premium but I think the cars have more and more of a niche market as they get older.

The 172 cups are more fun to drive so give off a greater appeal, however I recently saw someone selling their 172 cup for 8,495 slightly overpriced I tought!!

Yeah, my mate is on the market for a 1*2 cup, and I was suprised at how cheap you can pick 172s up for.

Starting to become very common on the roads too! Hardly ever used to see any!

The 'crash' on 172 prices is depressing isn't it:(

I have toyed with the idea of selling up and moving to something a bit more sensible (Golf V5, GTi) but I'd have to add so much money on top of the price I'd get for the Clio to get anything decent.

My car has low miles (20k for a 2002 car) and needs cambelt doing in sept/oct so I'm just going to hang onto it and keep it well mantained:)

I don't think the appeal of driving a cup over the luxury of the toys in a full fat is the opinion of everybody yet. I think in a few years time the cups will be worth more but at the moment the full fat is the more appealing car. whatever your opinion, both aren't easy to sell at the moment.
