clio 182 aux belt

  182 and cherokee 4.0
i was looking on ktec and noticed they had an aux belt for sale and it was only £14 or something. when i was going to get this done by renault i am sure it was going to be hundreds. If i get the ktec part and take it to a local garage (not a renault dealership) will they be able to fir it for me? and will this do the job or is there more work that should be being done?

thanks...:)

its the labour thats cost not the parts. Also the tensioners are quite expensive too...but aux belt tensioner should be fine

I wouldnt skip on an aux belt fella. If it goes it has the potenital to take the cam belt with it.

You need to replace the tensioners, not just the belt.

It's not the easiest job in the world either... unless you have a 172 Cup!

only needed if there's a problem with them.

Belt alone from Renault is £19

To be honest you wont save anything by taking pre-purchased parts to a garage, they should charge you near enough the same for them

The aux belt and tensioner kit for the 182 with climate costs about £100 + go get it done at Birchdown like I did. £175 ish fitted.

IMO, it's definitely worth changing them, considering it's hardly any more labour.

You could be leaving a reletively cheap part, which could possibly cause you trouble again.

I know someone who's tensioner failed, it pulled the belt across and tangled, then pulled the timing belt off too.

He had a £3k bill from Renault. Luckily it was covered under warranty, but that's a lesson for the skimpers.

can get the kit including idler and tensioner for 120. includes belt. Or just get belt and idler for less
