Clio 182 DEPRECIATION... advice

Hi Folks... I am looking at buying a low mileage used 182, but in the past always buy cars that have lost a packet over 3 years... So what is the general verdict here.... say you can pick them up now for approx £10.5k....

...What do you think the 182 will be worth with average mileage in 3 years time?? Thank you.

:)

you think thats good depreciation ??? lol

yes :D.. unless you can name me another car with the same performance, that loses less in 3 years? lol

Most are gonna cost more than a 182 with that performance, therefore will lose more.. ;) think the 182 is amazing value!

Its pretty rubbish depreciation. It may put a grin on your face when you drive it, but its not going to b so cheery when you see how much money youve lost.

Also, Zonda - do you have a 172 currently? Is it really worth swapping?? Seriosuly?? They arent that different.

if your worried aboout depreciation your buying the wrong car

i would say a 182 in 3 years time will be worth 5-6k if your lucky

not worried, just interested.. prob keep it till its worth £2k..lol :D

Mk1 172s were replaced with Mk2 172s. This meant Mk1 172s lost value.

Mk2 172s were replaced with 182s. this meant Mk2s lost value

182s replaced with New RenaultSport model - mean 182 loses value.

Every car that superceeds the 182 will depreciate it bit by bit. I would say that if a 182 is worth £5,000 to £6,000 at the end of 3 years then youll be lucky.

My Clio Cup 172, as fab as it was, all fully kitted out, looking the business on a late-2002 plate was worth just £6000. I eventually haggled it £6,500 with the insurance company but that was stretching the limits tbh. I was really lucky.

There are alot of other performance hot hatches which will hold their value alot bettr than a 172/182 etc, so I would recommend looking around before splashing your cash.

CC.

If my cars worth £5000 after 3 years ill be happy as its not like its a huge loss in the scheme of things and the car makes up for it in enjoyment it gives. Think about owners of mitsibishi evolutions 8s, ten thousand pound depreciation in a year and perhaps more now the evolution 9 is out.

Where are these figures coming from? Average cost of a 3 year old 172 with average (36k ish) miles on Autotrader based on a 60 mile radius for me is £8,500, and most of them are Cups.

Ive never understood where these fabled £6k 3 year old RS models come from, I certainly havent seen one and Ive looked every day since early March!

My 26,000k 51 plate immaculate 172 cost me £8000 in sept 04, and I was happy to pay that. That was when it was just under 3 years old. Where is £6000 3 year old 182 coming from???!!

Dont worry about it.I had a Smart Roadster and that lost 5k in 6 months. It was lucky I rejected it with all the faults I had with it and got my money back:)
Now Im waiting for my 182:D

..most ppl dont research their next car, eg check out the "parkers" or "what car", the price of a service or a new tyre, what mileage you do, insurance blah blah, spend a bit more and get something that doesnt depreciate so badly, ppl who buy a car new then sell it 2/3 years l8r are throwing money away. trouble is its a good car for the £ so u gota have it eh :p

isnt it funny - most of u say around 6-7k after 3 years but most ppl with mk1 172s are still asking that for xs and w regs (5 years old!!!!)

Guaranteed minimum future value on a pcp is £6500 so you know a 182 will be worth that at least. Thats pretty good depreciation levels if you pay £12500 for it. I would rather pay £2k more and get years extra warranty. You surely have to think that after reading that Cup engine failure thread.
