Did you read the thread???
Cars done 25k, owner been told by Renault dealer aux belt should be done at 36k or 5yrs....
Similar thing happened to me earlier this year. Aux belt was replaced last year. Only 9 months before it sheared into the cam belt. When we inspected it, there was a bolt missing from the Alternator. Spoke to RCS for a month, the outcome....
They claimed they were not responsible, and that it was caused by wear and tear. Yet it was the incompetence of the technicians at Reno who didn't replace the bolt, that caused the aux belt to jump and cause all the damage.

I take it you paid the bill or what? They've quoted me £4600.

Did I feck, I trailered it out of there and took it to Mark Fish. Sourced a new engine with 12k less miles on it, and transplanted it, along with some schrick cams.
Won't cost anywhere near £4.6k
Link to my build...
could u start the engine once this had happened???As much as you wouldnt believe this on saturday i was driving lost all power the car cut out opened the bonnnet and got the RAC down they took a look at it ....
The Aux belt has sheared on its way round it caught the cambelt and took that with it... there RAC guy used a telescopic magnet and found a piston knocking around in the engine as you could imagine im furious.
The cars done 25900 miles which is next to nothing; its a 54 Reg and well lets be honest something like this should never happen. What really furiates me is that i took it to Renault in Colchester last week to ask them when the cambelt and aux belt needed doing they said 76k or not until next year. I did read on here this was changed to 36k but they definately didnt recommend that!
At the moment im sitting in Renault Leicester spoken to the service department who say without speaking to customer services they can judge whether or not they will repair the car and an adjusted cost or free of charge. They dont open until 10:30 so if theres any wise suggestions or anyone whose had a similar experience please reply.

Just spoken to Renault Colchester the service manager there again repeated what Renault Head Office have said that they are unwilling to assist in the repair of the vehicle .
I have asked him to write a letter on letter headed paper confirming the servicing scheduling on the Renault Clio 182 as per the manufacturers recommendations this will of course be used as evidence towards my claim when i forward this through to my acting solicitor on the case against Renault UK.
