Clio 182 - full exhaust and Oxfordshire specialist

Hi All,

I’ve had my ‘05 Clio 182 from new, so 19 years and 160k miles later I don’t want to give it up…

…trouble is the exhaust is rotten from manifold to back box and neither my local garage or Renault dealer can get parts. I’ve looked at aftermarket Miltek/Scorpion exhausts, but all seem to be cat-back or decat that don’t include manifold or downpipes.

I’d be grateful for any advice or otherwise this could terminal!

Also any recommendations for a 182 specialist in Oxfordshire?

Someone will have a used one lying about if you wanted to retain OEM, i’d fire a ‘wanted’ post up?

Thats amazing you’ve has the 182 all this time, is it in good order?

Manifold on a 182 is stainless isn't it?
So if it's rusting, it's not original.
Cat and rest of system are mild steel though....

Yeah, I’d say she’s in good order - a few cosmetic bits here and there, but the engine feels as strong as ever!

I’m not bothered if is OEM or not - it’s just that I can’t find new parts in either case. I’ll try the ‘wanted’ as you suggest though.

The manifold is original so maybe I’ve misunderstood the diagnosis, but the joint between the manifold/downpipe and front of the cat is shot apparently

Buy a used manifold off eBay. There are a few on there.

Depending on how bad it is, you may be able to get a new flange welded onto the manifold - see picture.

I got mine from a member on here but the name escapes me now, but stick a wanted post up - use my picture by all means

I got my local exhaust centre to weld it on.

If not, you should be able to pick up a second-hand manifold easily enough, and then weld a new flange onto that.

If you have to replace your entire exhaust and have deep pockets, take a look at the PMS systems, they're top-notch. See - https://www.pure-motorsport.co.uk/182-racing-exhaust-system.html

Tick the 182 Manifold option, then 200 CELL Sports cat, and then you have a choice of tips.

I've had the 3.5-inch slash cut which look really nice.

But have recently switched to the 3" outward rolled type, for the OEM look.

No issues with MOTs either but I'd recommend sticking a couple of BOSCH Lambda sensors on for good measure. These are what Renault use, but you'll pay half the price for the same part by ordering the Bosch. Renault Part Number is (7700107433) - OEM Mfr. Bosch (0258006046).

Great to hear you've had it from new and want to keep it. PMS exhausts are a work of art. Around 89 - 93 decibels at 5,500 rpm, so not too bad and sound awesome.

You might have to wait 100 years for it to arrive though lol

You beat me by 6 months lol.
I've had my 182 from new for 18 and half years.
Just had it's MOT today and it flew through with no advisories 😁

You don't need a Clio specialist for this job - just a reliable exhaust centre.

My local exhaust centre welded a new flange in place while the car was on the lift. It was a straightforward job.

If you're up for fitting the exhaust yourself, it's not too hard. I followed a guide on the PMS website, and it went smoothly. But if you're unsure or prefer not to tackle it, any decent exhaust centre can handle the fitting for you. Just talk it through with them beforehand, and they should be able to do everything in one go.

They do if you've got a decent fitting kit.
This is one I knocked up out of stainless parts years ago. It's still going strong and even better now I've got a stainless flange. 😁

Cat /Manifold DIY fitting kit

Having owned my 182 for 10 and half years and going through God knows how many fitting kits because they rust away within minutes I thought I'd have a go at making an alternative using all Stainless parts . I don't know if anybodys interested , but there are the parts I used M8 x 75mm...
