Clio 182 suspension

Hi guys I've recently noticed a knocking noise when on full lock, usually when just started in mornings, I've been to local renault garage and they said its just the suspension when cold. It causes a jumping and knocking sound. but I've just noticed under the bonnet, both the mounts has a gap on the rubber washer, should it be like that or should it be tight onto the metal?

There is usually a gap, but not that much AFAIK.

do you reckon this could be a problem ? if so how will i sort this out?

That gap is fine.

The knocking is quite possibly buggered top mounts though to be fair. Have they ever been replaced? Renault now have a different design which helps to stop the knocking.

Yes replaced last december.
