Clio 182 Wont Start. Engine spins but doesn't crank

Hi all,

When I turn the key in the ignition the engine spins but doesn't crank. I had the car on jacks at the weekend whilst the car was low on fuel and prior to this it was starting. Does any body have any ideas?

- Immobiliser light goes off
- Fuel pump sounds like it's pumping
- Battery is charged

When mine did this it turned out to be a loose earth. After i tightened the earth under the airbox, on top of the gearbox the car started up straight away.

Possibly a stupid question but did you have take the air box off to get at it?

yes,
But you can also get at it underneath by removing the wheel and arch liner.

Got it started. Thanks for the reply’s.

Last night I also cleaned the tdc sensor, tried to start it and it didn’t seem to make a difference . This morning before removing the air box again to get at the earth cable I thought I would try the switching around the fuel relay fuses. No signs of corrosion on the three fuses. Tried to start the car again and after a few attempts it fire up.
