Clio 182

  Astra VXR 17/05/07

New to the forum here and so far so good on the Cliosport site..it looks good !

I have my order placed for a 182 and its doing my swede in waiting !!! Not just a little but a lot,i cant wait.

Is there anyone else out there who is also waiting ? Has anyone seen the 182 yet in the flesh ?

I placed my order based on how good the 172 is and from pics and the limited things i have been able to find over the net.The dealership did not have a demonstrator and are still waiting for theirs so i have still yet to see one for real..It would of been nice to see one before placing the order but there was no point in waiting really because my mind was made up.

I have gone for the cup spoiler pack but declined the suspension pack based on the alloys which come with it which i think are minging.I have no idea what the rear cup spoiler looks like but it seemed like a good idea to go for it !!! The dealer said it was not quite as passive as the standard one which to me looks a bit to quiet.I have ordered mine in Arctic blue,im biased of course but id like to think that is the colour id go for if i was given the whole Renault colour range to choose from.

Does anyone know what sound system comes as standard, the dealer said single cd but i have seen a few articles which say 6 cd system as standard.

I got a nice letter from Renault this morning confirming my delivery to dealership date and telling me my car is unique and is being made from new to my spec..Nice !!!

Anyway..hurry up Renault..its worse than waiting for christmas !!

I thought the alloys were the same, regardless of whether or not you ordered the Cup susspension!

  Astra VXR 17/05/07

What i mean is,if you go for the cup suspension pack they change the alloys to Anthracite Grey which i dont like and dont think suits the car.

i saw an artic blue one in the week, quite nice.

have a scan on the Pics Forum for loads pictures.

Dont want to alarm you but they reckon in years tocome no-one is gonna want a 182 WITHOUT the Cup suspension...

suppose time will tell, either way...welcome aboard :D

Yeah, seriously. You should get the cup suspension mods even if you dont like the wheels. i reckon you could lose around a £1000 (purely a guesstimate at the moment!) when/if you ever sell it. You can always buy a different set of alloys if you hate the anthracite ones that much.

  Astra VXR 17/05/07

Thanks for the welcome !

Time will tell on the cup suspension as you say. From what i have read about the differences they are not that major, and its not everybodys cup of tea.I would like to preserve some of the fillings i have left ! I have no intention of taking mine on a track and i am not a good enough driver to slam it around corners that much to notice the slight differences. As for resales,if the car is well looked after and in top condition i doubt the fact it has no cup suspension will put off possible buyers being as it is improved on the impressive 172 already.

I will only average about 6000 miles a year in mine so i intend to keep it and enjoy it rather than doing the usual and having one eye on its resale before i even get it ! As i explained to my wifey,if we want to make money forget the Clio and lets invest ! Needless to say the Clio won !

I did want the cup suspension pack to be fair but its the wheels that put me off,i feel that strongly about them.I am disappointed that Renault could not of come up with some more desirable wheels as an option.Im sure some people might love them but im not one of them, but i do admit they look better than i imagined after seeing some pics of them on here.

opps

should have gone for the suspension pack mate

im sure everyone on this board will tell you the same.

read the reviews and you will see why.

that was nice of renault a little letter to say your car is unique.

i can see why people buy there cars from the dealer now.;)

you dont get that when you save nearly £3000 not buing from renault:cool:

anyway welcome aboard hope you enjoy the ride

Im with you Funkyjahooner. I much prefer the wheels the car comes with, especially the Artic Blue which is also the colour I have ordered.

I cant se it effecting the value that much, as anybody who buys one without could always have it put on themselves.

It is always said that you never get your money back on extras anyway.

  Astra VXR 17/05/07

Where can you save £3000 not buying fron Renault ??

Please dont say Motorpoint !!

If there is somebody out there selling the 182 for £11000 they will be as common as the cooper s !!!!

Yes I am waiting and it is doing my nut in too! I test drove one in the week, it was amazing and was artic blue, same colour as the 172 CUP.

see my post here about the test drive and pics:

Cup spolier sticks out more and has more presence, Renault reckon that 75% of people will opt for the CUP Suspension. The ride is very good and not at all hard, Renault have done a very good job, they have the handling without the bone crunching!

Does anyone know what sound system comes as standard, the dealer said single cd but i have seen a few articles which say 6 cd system as standard.

Comes with a single CD Cabasse stereo with a changer as an option, the changer is standard in France!

I havent got a letter, you must be special!

what delivery date have you been given? - and welcome to the forum.

Bigvin, its nice to see im not the fool i was beginning to think i was lol

The cup suspension, good as it may be is after all an option.I have yet to stick an option on a car and get my money back on the option at resale time, let alone loose £1000 as it was guesstimated. It would not cost £1000 to make the changes so i cant see how it would loose that much. The tweaks, and thats all they are are not the be all and end all,not everybody wants the stiffer suspension etc and unless the car is driven to the extremes most reviewers take it to i doubt the average guy would even notice the difference. The 182 is an improvement on the 172 so if a 182 without the cup suspension is such a big no no,does that make the 172 awfull ? Not from the reviews i have read ;)

personally, I would never look at an option as how much money i will lose when I sell it as I wont make my money back. An option is designed to give you the pleasure while you own the car for 3 years or whatever, thats what you get out of it, making your experience better, you shouldnt think of what you will get back when you sell it, unless it is is Sat-Nav, thats just bloody ridiculous pricing!;)

Dave 182,

My posh letter  from Reanault gives me the 4th March as my delivery date to dealer. This was confirmed by my dealer.

Its nice to see others suffering as i am !!

I had a quick look at the clickcars website, they advertise the 182 for £12400,if they are similar to Motorpoint you can add about £700 on to that price as they do to prep and tax and all that malarkey, that brings it up to £13100.Then add on the extra monthly payments to your insurance that some charge for it being a Uk spec import and take into account the 2 year warranty as opposed to the 3 year one the dealership gives and its not that good a deal.If im wrong and its £12400 otr and the insurance companies view it the same as a dealership car and it comes with 3 years Renault warenty then DAMM !!!

you wont be disappointed, especially coming from a Saxo (not meant nastily), the change will be lovely, its a class above, I used to own a 106 GTI which was obviously the same car.

depends how you want to buy, someone will always have got a better deal that you have, thats life, if we all knew the best way to do things we would all but from the same place and their wouldnt be any competition. I bought my last car as an import and it was supplied by a renault dealer (they arent a renault dealer now as they lost their brand due to importing cars) and I saved loads of money, but I also didnt get treated as well at the dealer and also didnt get offered as much for my car when trying to trade it in at different places, so you cant always win!

As long as nobody gets ripped off then thats the main thing, you buy from where you are comfortable with! If thats a dealer (and a lot of people choose this route, the renault dealer situated directly next to trade sales does very well) then thats fine, you should always get a better service from dealing directly with the dealer and if you keep taking your car there (which we all know you will as its a renault!) you will build up a raport with them rather than only getting to speak to someone on the phone and never seeing the person you buy the car from when buying from the internet.

*rant over*

I still AM happy..did i mention my tiny mind :p and smaller wallet

Good on ya for getting the deal you got.Im not about to diss the Saxo Vts because in its own right its a cracker of a car.Very basic when it comes to kit but i still love the shape and the performance and drive always brings a smile.Whilst on the subject of Citroens,i asked my local dealer about the c2 Vts and he told me they will be bringing one out in 3 or 4 months ish.He asked what i had ordered and when i told him he told me not to bother as there is no comparison,he reckons the 182 is in a different class when compared to the c2 Vts when it comes out.I admire the mans honesty,i doubt he is the number one salesman though :D

Even with the cup suspension the ride will be better than a vts. I think its odd that Renault make you have the anthracite wheels when you get the cup pack though. Maybe thats just so it makes cars with those options easier to identify
