Hi David

I think without rolling the arches you could get away with a 40mm drop on the mk2 phase 2, I know Black Fox hasnt had his rear arches rolled and is dropped on 17s with 35mm PI springs and hes never had any probs. If you have your arches rolled then 60mm is easily possible with 2 people in the back still. Dont go any wider than 7" and you wont have a problem.

R-Tec can roll your arches for £90+vat, gives you peace of mind IMO

Hope that helps

Is the mk2 the older shape before the facelift? If so then you should be able to lower it upto 60mm on 17s without any problems. You will need to take out the plastic guards in the wheel archs to stop them rubbing on the tyre. On the 15s you can slam it to the max, as close to the ground as you like thats wot I did, before putting my 17s on looked da b****cks!!!

On mine I have the front lowered 70mm and the back lowered 60mm this is on Spax RSX Coilovers, and with a strong dampening rate as I want to still have people in the back. I have absoulutly no problems wot so ever.

It might be different if you just replace the springs with no dampers, i heard with 17s and normal springs you can lower it by 45 mm with no problems. with dampers maybe more.

Hope this helps.

with the original alloys on you can lower the car as much as the suspension you use can take it

with 17s, 60mm is the only sensible option, although there is one amongst us who has lowered his 110mm

Yeah some plonker has lowered his clio 110mm!!!! What a pleb!!!

Theres no need to touch the arches in any way, shape or form even upto 60mm drop on 17s (as long as your wheels are the correct offset which is ET37)

You can have a full car of people on 60mm 17s no probs

I agree,I am on 17" and its lowwered 35mm all round(with pi springs)It only scraps alittle with 2 people in the back, depending on how heavy there are.I also live in a place with alot of speed humps around.hope that helps?:D:)

Thanks a lot people. Some mixed views though. Some say 35mm all round others say 60mm will be fine. Im talking about the Clio 2 facelift version, basically the newest one. Id love to do 60mm with 17" but im really worried about the speed humps, especially when im hoping to get a kit some time next year which will reduce the floor clearance even more! So i may go for 35mm. I really appreciate all the help guys so if any1 thinks this is a good option or bad one and wants to let me know that would be wicked. P.s. arent the new clios using 16" wheels??

With a 60mm drop the ride is terrible. Speed humps are a particular problem they have to be taken under 30mph for comfort reasons

Ill bet you a 10er you be selling the 35mm springs within 3months and buying 60mm (dont say i didnt warn you!!!!)

Yeh ive got it 35mm on 17s, looks ok, but 60mm would look alot better. As soon as i buy my car out the company (bout a year) its going to 60 :D

Lots of people saying 60mm, will i need to roll the arches with the 17"s?? A couple of people on here saying they had trouble with speed humps on 35mm?!?! Any1 else with this experience i cant do 60mm if people r having trouble with 35mm. O and can any1 suggest a good set of springs to do it on? Not too cheap but not crazily expensive, between £100 and £200?!?? Cheers lads

P.s. My car is the newest model, dunno if that makes a difference from the original mark 2.

Thank u FRED CHRIS AND PRETENDER, i really appreciate it. 60mm it is. I dont have the 17" yet, but a 50mm drop on the 15"s will look good enough for now. Ill check out the pi springs. Thanks boys!
