Clio 3 aircon problem airconditioning Burst noise gas evaporated from under bonnet 06

  clio dci 1.5 dynamice
Hi I have a new shape 06 plate clio 1.5dci 86 dynamique s
I was stationery in shopping car park, had the car started and decided to turn on the aircon, all of a sudden heard a bursting noise from the front of the engine bay and all I could see was white smoke like gas evaporating from engine bay, within seconds it was over finished, and the aircon was now just giving normal air.
Turned the car off and looked in the engine bay, I knew it was something to do with the aircon as it happened as soon as pressed the button, the compressor kicked in and bang a pop or bursting sound and the gas was evaporating fast into the air.
Oil level was fine so it wasn’t over heating.
Tried to look quickly where the smoke was coming from but as soon as I opened the bonnet gas had evaporated and nothing left behind, inspected the engine bay and the aircon pipes could not find no residue or anything.
Now when I press the ac button nothing no usual click noise no revs getting higher nothing at all and no cold air. I know if there is no pressure the compressor won’t activate as I have read other forums.
I just hope its a burst pipe as that is the most least expensive thing to change,
Has anyone experienced this? Any help or advice will be much appreciative. I am based in Manchester if anybody knows an aircon specialist that can do aircon repairs would be really grateful
Thank you for reading.

Re: Clio 3 aircon problem airconditioning Burst noise gas evaporated from under bonne

Yes mate but it's bad news, mine did the exact same thing last summer, pulled into a car park on a hot day, got out and heard a pop then when i got back in the air con wouldn't work and now one year on and two specialists later they still can't find the problem.

mine has been re gassed twice since and each time i tell them it has a burst pipe but it holds compressed air so they cant find the pipe that has gone, it's like it has a slow puncture and after re gassing it takes about a week to empty but i'm tired of taking mine in and having them tell me it's fixed only for it to go a week later, i'll be leaving mine without now as i can't be bothered anymore!

it's not expensive to change a pipe but getting to them can be a nightmare especially if they can't pinpoint the problem and find which pipe it is.

good luck with yours though, i hope you have more luck than i did, yours might be easier to work on than my 182.
