Clio Cup vs CTR

Good thread - and still quite polite which is nice to see.

Some good stuff coming out.

I have been in a CTR that crashed and I can not imagine how a Clio could have come out of the same accident in a much worse shape TBH. We clipped a handful of wooden fence posts and skimmed across a verge and the car was deemed a write off, though I guess it could be argued that as the occupants were largely uninjured the car did its job.

The build quality gap between the two is perhaps not as large as some would have you believe. True the oily bits are bullet proof in the CTR but the rest f the car is assembled in Swindon as I understand it and my mate had more than his share of *ahem* niggles.

The residuals point is quite interesting too as my mate lost a chunk of cash on his after only a year - I seem to recall around £3500 or so - hardly what youd call easy on the pocket.

  Embarrassed to say

A tear fell from my eye reading all the nasty comments they had about the cup. They seem to overstate the bad points and understate the good points. I don’t know about the mk2 but the mk1 ctr handled terribly when I drove one, totally boring and uninspiring. In addition there is a £6000 difference in price, it’s a bargain for what you got.

How the hell can you say the Type Rs boring when its clearly not, you may not like it but enough of the rubbish. The sound of just the V-tech stops it being boring on its own.

sound lol.. the quieter the better imo .. unless its a v8 and above as they sound glorious. nothing worse than a screaming engine. dont get me wrong i dont mind it. but to say its a plus point to a car? ;)

Nowt wrong with the CTRs handling though...

I am un-biased as Ive had both! :D

It aint if they race on the same day (track conditions), with the same driver and same tyres if u wanna get really picky.

And as for unbiased opinion, im in the same boat as you lot, im defending my car because i love it just like you will defend yours if u see rubbish wrote about that.
