Clio dCI, is it 100 or 80hp?

Hi all, just bought a 2004 Clio 1.5 dCI and I think the turbo is shot (grey smoke, low oil).

I know next to nothing about cars but I can't afford to just stick it in my local garage and say, "fix it!".

I want to source the turbo myself but i'm confused. On the silver label inside the door frame it says 1.5 DCI 80.

But the lettering on the side trim has the CI in blue which i'm led to believe indicates 100hp.

How do I find out? I dont even know where the turbo is located to find a part number :S

I would go with the engine code tbh, or I think one of the dci boffins will be able to work it out if you post a pic up.

Sorry if I sound rude, but if you don;t know, take it to a garage, you vcould easily end up buying the wrong thing.

Take it to a garage and ask them to diagnose it? May not be a shot Turbo at all . . .

this, if you don't want to pay garage prices fair enough, but at least make sure you definitely know it's the turbo!

very true if you cant even identify the turbo just take it to a garage and get it looked at properly

And I would really get it on a machine or something to be sure it's that

I wouldn't trust the silver label on the inside of the door, I had a 1.2 tce that was apparently a 1.5dci lol!

Try typing the reg into something like https://www.mycarcheck.com/

Should say what it was registered as.

Likewise what everyone says, get it looked at instead of going down the guess work route

dCi 100 has a long rectangular intercooler, the '80 has one the same size as the radiator... I would assume it is an '80 and someone has swapped the door badges

Thanks everyone for the replies. I don't mind taking it to a garage but as I said earlier I know almost zero about cars and i've heard too many horror stories about people getting ripped off. If anyone knows somewhere in the Milton Keynes/Bucks area who are reliable/cheap/honest i'd be grateful for a tip.

Got to wonder why the sticker says 80...

My DCI 80 said it was a 65.

Perfect excuse for a bigger turbo I think someone off here put a 320d blower on theirs.

Pretty sure all the 100's have read disk's and the gear's I believe went up to 6 on the MK3 but it may be model specific to the DCI GT

I've not seen that before but looking around looks like conversions are done from the megane. Only thing i've seen in reference to the MK2 being 6 speed is European DCI's (Which is still a claim rather than proven). Wiki (all be it not always correct) also lists the MK2 as only having a 5 manual and 4 auto.

Carfolio also states it's only a 5 speed:

You sir are talking bollox... mines got the same gearstick and as TEG said, mine's a 5 speed... would be great if it had 6 but it doesn't.

When I got my dci 80 in 2004 i had the option of the 100 - it had 6 speeds and the gearstick looked the same, but as he said ^

I think I'm going to have to accept that I'm wrong. I was sure that Ph3 models came with a 6 speed box, but I can't find anything that backs this up. So, apologies. Ignore my above posts
