Clio dci sport replica

  2001 clio dci 65
Hi guys! My daily driver is a 3door clio dci 65 in black. I recently stumbled across some sport alloys so decided to throw them on. Naturally, a sport kit was then sourced, then and interior etc etc!! Just though id throw up a few pics as the project goes on to see what you good people think. I know its not a sport, but seeing as I'm getting nearly 70mpg and tax is only 30 bucks a year i thought making a tidy replica would be up you street. Enjoy!

And here she is! A solid 2001 dci 65 with 148,000 miles on the clock!

My daily job as a car trader has recently been hindered by the fact that cars are no longer taxed when passing from owner to owner. As the clio has always been a firm favourite of mine, there was no other car that sprang to mind when needing to by a 'cheap to tax' diesel! Found on eBay priced at a mere £595, i struck a deal at £450 and she was the first car to be registered in my own name for around 6 years!

After getting it home i quickly realised that i would almost certainly have to beef this little car up in the looks department. Being a 17 powerlifter and with street cred already at a low, i knew i had to go down the sport replica route to enhance the look of my little derv. And so, it begins...

My first port of call was wheels. After toying with the idea of putting 17s on, i decided to go down the standard look route. A chap locally was breaking a sport, so again a deal was struck and i ended up buying 5 anthracite coloured alloys with tyres for £100. He also has a cracking pair of xenon headlights there so i spun him a yarn about how mine were cracked and he threw them in for an extra £20! Bargain of the century as he obviously didnt

The wheels had been painted a half tidy anthracite colour which i was happy with as i like the contrast with a black car. However, the centre caps and screws where painted a ghastly burgundy colour so i removed the badges from the caps and gave them a nice coat of satin black.

Were those prepped before spraying? (Sanded etc) Probably just the picture but they look quite uneven and heavy? Sorry not trying to offend just asking lol

Heres how the car looked after i put on the wheels. Renault badges have yet to been added. Looks much better already! Think I'm gonna get them refurbed in the future though...

Looking good!

Make sure you look after the engine and it'll look after you. Mines on 162K and hasn't missed a beat since Iv'e owned it.

Glad you replaced the wheels btw 😅
