Right that messed up I put a video in the post and it wipe the writing lol right for the 3rd time of having to right this

My clio idles realy low below 1000rpm I start it up from cold and it revs up and down on its own then when I move off its fine but when im trying to park the car or if the steerings on full lock the revs drop below 1000rpm so low it cuts out my power steering is realy heavy if this could have somthing todo with it? I have cleaned the throttle body and spark plugs but still no luck any help would be apretiated as I look like a dick when im trying to park with the car keep cutting out ect lol if anyone can tell me how to upload a video ill upload one thanks again

When its sat still with wheels straight it idles at 1000rpm dont seem lumpy but when the revs drop its quiet lumpy seems like the engine realy starts shaking then cuts out but starts up fine... when it idles with out cutting out tue rev needle moves up and down slightly

Mines doing this to... I have a faulty speedo sensor so wondered if it was something to do with that, pulls up P0500 fault code.

Not looked at anything else, but wondered if it could be crank sensor if not speedo related.

All I no is my power steering is realy heavy compared to my gfs clio its so annoying lol were are these sensors u mentiond?

The Speedo is unlikely to be the issue (my speedo drops in and out) it's an existing issue with my car so was an 'outside' guess.

Crank sensor is on the right hand side if the engine (gearbox side) IIRC.

Does the car start ok?

  ibiza fr tdi hybrid
Ok ill check it out and try replacing tomorrow and yea the car starts fine just idles at 1000rpm and drops down slightly then back up again im trying to work out how to upload the video I took erlier lol is there a way to tell if that sensor is faultt befor buying new one?

Yep that's what mine does... It's great trying to park and the car cuts out or at traffic lights.

Bloody things lol lovley cars when they run right!! And I dont think ill bother parking it atm ill just abandon it in the middle of he road lol!

Have you actually checked the power steering fluid levels?

Id start be giving the ThrottleBody a good clean and check for any air leeks in the engine bay.

Yea the first thing I checked was the power steering fluid ive cleaned the throttle body with carb cleaner litraly soaked it with the stuff.. what sort of pipes do I check for air leaks im a dumb ass so excuse me lol

Any signs of noise from the belt (sorry on office computer with no sound so cant watch the video)

The fact your power steering is heavy IMHO implies one of 3 things:
Not enough fluid (you seem to have ruled this out already)
Pump packing up
Belt slipping (due to wear or tensioner seizing or both)

These cars idle too low anyway, and it gets a little worse with age, have you got an RS Tuner map on it yet? If not get one as that will keep the revs higher.

I think you have two seperate issues effectively, a low idle, and either a slipping belt or knackered pump (if the belt keeps slipping and grabbing the load on the engine changes quicker than the ECU can react to it)

Also worth checking the plug is on the power steering pipe is connected as the ECU needs this to know the load is changing.

Thanks ill check the plug you mentioned I no the belts were replaced 5k ago not sure if tensioners were changed the little spring things with the bolt going through it look pretty old if thats what you meen? There isent any were noises coming from the engine tbh it sounds pretty quiet the power steering pump dosent whine or anything

  182/RS2/ Turbo/Mk1
Yes the spring with the 2 E12 head bolts is the tensioner.

If it was that though, I would expect a belt squeal when you turn the wheel.

Sounds like its your pump then if its got reduced power steering assist compared to normal. :(

  182/RS2/ Turbo/Mk1
maybe the sensor on the power steering pump on its way out?

iirc does it not increase the revs slightly when at full lock to prevent stalling

Yeah it opens the throttle body slightly (or icv on early cars) to prevent stalling when it sees pressure, sometimes its just the connector not on.

If its the sensor itself, they are quite expensive IIRC as im pretty sure they come with the pipe and are like 150+ or something silly :(

Is it deff related to turning the steering. When you come to a junction and brake / dip the clutch what happens?

  ibiza fr tdi hybrid
Only does it when turning the wheel on full lock when parking ect junctions ect is fine just idle up and down a little bit but revs dont drop so low it cuts out lol I have no squeeling ither engine bay is nice and quiet

  ibiza fr tdi hybrid
When I dip the clutch it just idles at 1000rpm just drops realy low and cuts out when I turn wheel on full lock

  ibiza fr tdi hybrid
Was even worse this morning started the car and the revs just kept dropping and cutting out would only stay running if I kept foot on accelerator but once it warmed up it was fine? :(

  ibiza fr tdi hybrid
Right I looked erlier when at a stand still I do full lock with out touchin accelerator its fine if I do full lock rev car up then it will try and cut out?

  ibiza fr tdi hybrid
So heres a video of what it was doing this morning it was reving because I was revving it to keep it runing but when it was warmed up it seemed fine

Get an RS tuner or other diagnostics onto it so you can see if all the sensors are working correctly.
and preferably a wideband to see what the fuelling is doing when it cuts out.

I reckon that you have an issue that is throwing the fuelling out, and the reason its ok when warmed up is the lambda is taking over.
Have you had the belt changed recently?

Went to my local garage I have always used they cant look at it till after xmas I changed the coolant temp sensor it seems to have made it a little bit better but not 100% so ill have to get it plugged in see whats going on like I said I do no the lambda sensor needs replacing belts were done 5k ago

Mine does it too, plenty of fluid and new belt fitted by Mick at diamond. Presuming pump is shagged. I just give it a rev....or forget, stall and swear a lot.

Make sure you update this if you get a fix!

Will do thanks I rekon it may be power steering pump or somthing wrong with the choke

There isnt a choke on your car really mate, although it should slightly increase target RPM when first started from cold.
Actual chokes though were about 30 years ago, lol.

It just opens the body an appropriate amount to keep it running, and fuels accordingly, so it micro adjusts in all circumstances.
(when its working correctly!)

lol I dident think there was a choke its what someone told me lol! I changed the engine temp sensor was ok for a few days no playing up again it happened after work tonight I got the hump so redlined it and it stoped doing it lol

Mines still doing it mate quiet deadly now that I might stop driving it untill its sorted I was going round a one way system erlier and as I dipped the clutch to change gear going round a bend the car cut out and almost had a car go into the back off me got the middle finger by the car behind but he was up my arse lol I changed the coolant temp sensor that fixed my cold morning start problem I changed my lambda sensor but engine man light still on so need to get falt cleared then maybe it will be better you let me no if you find a solution :)
