CLIO IV RS - Trophy from page 111

  RS2'ed 172 Cup
Even in Jukes engine cover is a little pointless, to much pipe work to try and cover over.

But it looks a mess! It's looks like an aftermarket engine has been squeezed in. Weird!

Boosh, how's the box? Be honest

Upshifts are great - Really quick (caveat is it's the first EDC i've driven, so not sure how it compares to Porche's PDK/ VW DSG), but yeh it's quick.

Downshifts are a bit reticent sometimes but it's not unmanageable. I had it on circuit for aroudn 2 hours and loved it in the end. It's definitely a car you need to spend some time with.

trouble is, most people (with the exception of those that buy it in blind faith) will have a 20 min test drive and make their mind up from there. that doesnt sound like a lot of time to get to grips with it.

granted most mothers who will be buying this to pick the kids up wont give a flying monkey but your certainly going to have less "enthusiasts" buying them if thats the case

I need to drive one of these my local dealer won't let me aged 22....... Luke are they any more interesting versions in the pipe line? Are Recaros ever going to be available?

Dealer insurance policies vary I believe, what dealer is it?

Never say never. Ph2 182 was launched with no recaro's as an option. Who know's what will happen down the line. Haven't heard anything official but I envisage more colours & recaros in the future.

In France and for Renault and Renault Sport especially, heir of Alpine and of ... Gordini, the legend rally builder Gordini is a bigger mark than Williams and the color of Gordini is this famous blue with the 2 white strips, so ;-)

But like for the Gordini in the former version Clio RS, I don't think it 'll be its name in England and UK, "CUP" will be its name in UK ... peraps

But you know, now I see finally a Clio 4 RS at 230hp I'm sure that the future Megane 4RS will have at least 300hp ! <3

And I'm happy because it's more likely to me that my future "car passion" will be the Megane 4RS, especially if it has at least 300hp, even if the Clio 4RS is a Super 4RS like this Gordini

PS :

Sorry if I speak about another car for one time ^^, but in my 1st post on this future Clio 4 RS Gordini 230hp, i sait also tah tPegeot 'll a extrem versionof eth 208 GTi, eth 208 R wiht 230-240hp and I made a mistake sorry...

I saw in a French website specialist of Peugeot that this "208 R" could have the engine of the ... RCZ R, so 260hp!

OMG 260hp on a "light" 208 !!

See, it should have had that power to start with.

I don"t think because 200hp is normal in its category but now increase at 230hp, it's a SuperCar in its category

You imagine, it's the power of the next category GOLF VII GTi for example but lighter of +250 kg !

LIGHT IS RIGHT ! :)

Well from Mk.2 to Mk.3 the clio gained 30bhp in total, now Renault have moved to a turbo'ed lump and (the standard car) has no extra power. It would've been nice if Renault introduced us to the new turbo lump by giving us more power.

As for 300bhp out of a 1.6, I can see reliability issues coming out of that.

Hum, the French racing builders, part "racing" of the big generalist builders Renault, Peugeot and Citroen and even smaller racing builders than you don't know in England and UK I think, which work for Peugeot and Renault (like this who build the engine V6 Bi-Turbo of the recent 208 T16 Pikes Peak for example) build with a base of 1.6L 16v Turbo engine and with very good reability, engine with more of ... 550hp, so put 300hp with perfect reability in a 1.6L turbo is possible for them of course

So, the problem is not there but like I said in my former post, in the internal trade of Renault : It is not possible for Renault to build a Clio RS that would compete with the power of the Megane RS

You CANNOT compare a race engine to a road car engine. A race engine gets rebuilt every year, HAS to be warmed up etc. Sure it may not break, but that's because the owner's replacing everything on a regular basis which simply wouldn't be acceptable for a road car. For example Chip's pistons would've lasted 20k, if one of them hadn't melted, and that's at 300bhp with a F4R.

So give the Megane 400. 500 for the Gordini.

Sorry but lol ;-)
it's a nice dream but an impossible dream ^^

The tradition and the main force of the Renault Sport cars is the ratio "Performances/Price" and to build great sport cars for everybody, the low like the middle social class

Put a such engine with a such power in a Renault Sport would blow the price at the level of the German SuperCars by examples and would reserve the Renault Sport at a littler part of rich people...

It was never the commercial policy of Renault and Renault Sport and all French manufacturers which build cars for the bigger part of people

It was never the commercial policy of the French builders at least after the WW2 because before the WW2, France had the most famous builders of supercars and luxury cars in the world and therefore, the most expensive cars in the world ^^

But this is a world that has disappeared with the WW2...

aye they upped the power a bit (20bhp in real life) but they also added 250kg and then tried to save it by putting in a gearbox with ratios so naff you're changing gear all the time just to be anywhere near the clio 2 RS, and it was still slower!

I'm an old and very happy owner of a Clio 2 RS mk1, for me the real last Clio RS "GTi" with the 2RS mk3 in the "pure GTi Spirit" and I hope to have always my Clio 2 RS Mk1 in 10 or 20 years ^^ BUT I always try to be logical in my analyse

With a engine turbo at 230hp and 285nm of torque for a weight of 1170kg, the Clio 4 RS Gordini stock 'll has much more best ratios "Weight/Power" and especially "Weight/Torque" than our Clio 2 RS Mk1 stock

What's wrong with the Renault motor?

In standard form it can only muster 177 lbsft torque and in this new guise it makes a massive 210.

My Fiesta, even before Mountune have got their hands on it, has 214. The standard 208 has over 200 standard as well.

Im not sure they trust the box just yet, pretty sure the engine can make a lot more than 177lbsft its wether renault are willing to take the risk

Nothing wrong with the Nissan 1.6 engine, the box should be pretty solid considering its a Getrag unit not a Renault one.
