Clio mk1 rsi leaky sunroof has anyone plated the roof?

Hi my clio rsi I brought for a steal of £150 the owner before has pumped siicone around tge sunroof to seal it as well ss duck tape . Trouble is wen it was leaking the water had got inside and distroyed the immobiliser from working so god knows if it can be sorted. But anyway getting back to the subject has anyone plated a mk1 clio and filled it etc to make water tight ?

Most of the time people seal the sun roofs up and forget that its the Ariel base thats leaking!

Yeah i have, had a panel laser cut and powdercoated to suit...... then fixed with water tight rivits.

Is that bonded on ? How did he fill the top fibre glass?

theres no fiberglass there mate, its 2mm plate

Ah ye thats mostprob why water still got in and wrecked the immobiliser . Did they use the sunroof as a template to cut it ? I want a finish without rivets so could be worth fibreglass and then skim with filler to get a nice finish

fyi the immobiliser isnt anywhere near the sun roof... the IR remote is... that would cause problems. the Immob is under the drivers side of the dash.(iirc)

you could try to skim the roof, but there is ALOT of flex in it so it would end up cracking. Many have tried and failed, and you cant hide what has been done.

My option cost me about £45. You could buy an entire roof skin from Renault.....but thats 4times what you paid for your entire car.

Or you could buy a Carbon roof panel...but thats even more!

How about by a new sunroof and install it but seal it all shut properly or just instsll it properly ha and ye sorry the ir remote for the local ng I tske it wst it is si the car doesn't work useing the fob anymore have to put the key in instead

Just remove the sunroof and reseal with clear silicon sealant. I did that on my mk1 and its lasted 5 years+ so far. Only takes about 30mins.

This roofs a mess gona buy a new one I think anyone got a link to puchase one. The other option buying s new roof skin would be pricy as well as cutting and welding new one on would cost more do not worth it
