Clio Mk3 seats from 3-door fitting in 5-door version

  Renault Clio 3 Ph 1
As the title says, I have a Clio Mk3 and purchased a set of nice seats, but the thing is that they're coming out of a 3-door version and I have the 5-door one.

I noticed there are some differences, but the main one I'm struggling with is the connectors from the airbags since they are completely different.

Did anybody here do this before perhaps? Do I have to solder or are there some kind of conversion kits for these? Or can I just leave them unplugged and disable them in the computer? Last option is not the preferred one, but just checking out my options.

Thanks!

Isn't just that, seatbelts are different too. Realistically there is no easy/safe/every day person way to put 5 door seats in the 3 door car. Plus they won't slide forwards so you'll never be able to get in the back.

I bought some and found out the differences Ethan mentioned above. Felt it was too much hassle and sold the seats on.

Sure someone did it on here the other week though?

I know the seatbelts are different, but I found a way around that, main thing left are the airbags.

And it's the other way around actually, I have the 5-door version and the seats are coming out of a 3-door version, so the rails are no problem :)

I searched the forum for this topic, but couldn't find any info relating the Clio Mk3, or did I just miss it?

Ah right okay thought you were putting 5 door seats into a 3 door. In that case its only really the seatbelts I suppose that's the problem and the airbags, any auto electrician I'm sure could sort the air bags out for you.

The seatbelts are attached differently, but it can be fitted without any issues. Now to find an auto electrician then I guess, I had hoped it would've been a little bit easier haha :)

It could be simpler, I personally would just take it to an auto electrician as airbags shouldn't be messed with!

I'll have a closer look at it this weekend with my dad (he's a mechanic), I'll keep you posted.

Managed to get one seat fitted in the meantime. Basically it takes a lot of work and you have to exchange a lot of parts from the chair/slider which will render your old chairs useless. Also cut off and re-soldered the airbag connector from the old to the new chair as the wiring is all the same in the end, managed to do that without any lights on the dash whatsoever so they should be fine. The other seat should be fine as well, just need to find some spare time for that.

Long story short; yes it can be done. Would I advise you to do so? No, not really :)

Just proves there's always a way! What modding all about, turning what seems impossible into the possible!

Indeed, looks ace now and I'm sure I will be pretty much the only one who has these in a 5-door Clio :)
