Initial plan was to buy an engine (2.0ltr) to fit to my 1.2 replica so i bought this for £550. The engine had only covered 16k miles so is in very nice condition.

Sold the 172 interior+wheel+door sills for £350 and still got the rolling shell including lots of other stuff for sale (Pm if interested ;))

this seemed a very expensive plan and at the end of the day and alot of hassle, so when this came up for sale a new project was in the frame.

The car only cost £2900 but ofcourse its engine was fucked, but my engine from above will fill the gap nicely :)
02 54k miles HPI Clear.

Mod List:
- Fit my Trophy Anthracite Turinis from current car
- Standard Rear Lights
- Carbon Fibre Splitter
- Cup spoiler
- Eibach Sportlines
- Brembo Max discs + Ferodo DS2500 pads
- Put my Alpine iDA-X001 Ipod headunit and type x components in it from current car

oh and fit the engine

Should be entertaining for you :D

Was it insurance price putting you off a sport in the first place?

yeah insurance put me off and the fact i dont think it would be sensible running a 2.0ltr in my first year of driving. Looking back on it i wasnt really safe in my first few months in a 1.2 never mind a 2.0ltr :p

Another reason is im always up for learning new things so this project will help me learn about the running of an engine etc and its something for me and my dad to do together.

so all in all im very very very happy :D

Na will just transfer all the stuff over from the FF engine, cam belt snapped on the FF engine and dropped a valve and hit a piston as in picture...

how much is your insurance gonna be, coz your 17 arent you? cant imagine it will be fun as its will be top group that 172 is in unlike a 1.2 converted to a 2.0 which is lower

wont be insuring until im 18 with 1 NCB, then it will be around 2k-2.5k :( expensive but you only live once ey ;)

converting seemed like the good idea but financially the way im doing it will be much better than converting my blue one. The money i will make from selling my blue one will pay for my silver one and leave me with some money spare. Converting would add no money to my blue one as who wants a converted clio when you can buy a real 172 for a few hundred more?

but what about all the money you spent converting the blue one? as you had the whole shabang done on it with arch liners and the lot and the interior you wont get all that back + the insurance +

just make sure its what you want to do as its only a car at the end of the day you will get bored of it the same way, but thumbs up from me

Converting the body work on the blue one didnt really cost that much at all and ill probably get abit more money for it as it is rather than standard.

Converting my blue one seemed a shame to mess around with the engine when it would be a great first car for someone when i come to sell it. Putting the engine in it + all the extra's such as struts, brakes etc is alot of time and money which i will never get back. Atleast putting the engine in this silver one will mean the car wont devalue much and will be worth something compared to a converted 1.2.
