Clio sport speakers question - help

  clio
Hi

I am looking to upgrade the speakers in my Renault clio 172. I am not interested in getting really high end sound equipment.
I would just like a sound better than that supplied by the standard speakers.
I have received some Halfords vouchers for Christmas, and I have been looking at the range of speakers available to me i.e 13cm.

My main question is, which speakers to go for?
Do I need two coax speakers on the front? Say Alpine SXE-1325S - 5.25" (13cm) Coaxial 2-Way Speakers
In which case should I remove the tweeters that are in the dash, or do I leave them in?
Or do I get two component speakers like Edge ED305 - 13cm - Component Speakers and leave the factory tweeters in? Or do these have to be removed?
Then for the rear speakers would I be best getting two coax speakers say the alpine ones?
I am a bit confused and would appreciate any advice someone has to offer.
Thanks in advance
Richard

You ideally want to go for components in the front and if you really need rears, coaxials. If you go for components, you want to remove the factory tweeters and replace them with the ones that come with the components, as they tend to be designed to work together.

a couple of points though:

1. I would stay away from cheapo brands. buy good, buy once and all that!

2. Dont expect huge gains from changing just the speakers. I presume you have the standard headunit? If so, better gains are to be had by just changing the headunit to a decent brand such as Alpine, Pioneer etc. The standard headunit amps aren't up to much!

3. You will get better quality by putting your money into 1 good set of fronts, and not having rears....rather than spreading your budget on 2 pairs of cheaper speakers for front and back.

I put those alpine ones in four in total and left the tweeters in as i dont really want to start trying to pop those covers of ect prob break them or scratch the dash. I wasnt that impressed with the speakers at first compared to my old Hertz ones which were also around the same price. with any sort of bass turned up those alpines suck. but with the bass turned down at the unit they are very clear as i run an under seat woofer and a vibe 10 inch black air ported in the boot and the speakers do a good job. If you are not running a sub and you like a bit of bass dont buy the alpines.

i had the edge components in my last clio

I have to admit i was very dissapointed with them , the bass was really poor .

next i will be getting some decent make for this clio i have now

ive got the pioneers 'perfect fit' speakers in the front and pioneer 1212i in the back. all fit in the standard mounts and are decent for the money
