Clio Trip Computer Fault

I filled up with petrol last night and reset all my readings on the trip meter display, then i notice on the miles left in the tank the numbers were going down quite fast (this was just while the car was idling) Then as i set off the mileage started going up again, i thought it has sorted it self, then it went back down. So has just got a mind of it own, i put it into test mode and it was still the same after.

Any ideas what it could be ?

It takes a while to settle down after a reset, its not just automatic.

Yeh i know but its still doing it tonight from last night :S

Mine does this, im pretty sure its normal coz if you think about it, when the car is idling (sitting still at traffic lights for example) the engine is running which is using fuel, but the car isn't actually moving so your actually getting 0mpg on idle which is why the computer starts to reduce the number of miles remaining. When you pull away the remaining miles goes up again coz your moving as opposed to sat stationary, so your getting more mpg than when sitting still hence the rise.

It's based on how you are driving the car, as above if you are sat idling it will go down, it will also go down rapidly if you thrash it. It will get more steady the more miles you do after the reset. Nothing to worry about.
