Clio V6 sneaks into the US

Got this photo from the CSL Forum, this is Montoya's CSL he has had imported. As you can see, the photo taken at port authority has a Vee in the background too... maybe the first into the US?

Are they actually allowed to drive them on the road without a model report though? I know there are no NSX-Rs over there, but you hear of Skylines and that being imported all the time...

1 x Classic Mini
1 x Current Mini - JCW
1 x RenaultSport Clio (whatever the current is at the time).

Teach those yanks how European cars go faster on smaller engines

To those saying about 93RON, I believe the US fuel is rated differently, MON instead of RON, and is equivalent in quality to our fuel

They have a cult Euro following over there, Golf GTI Mk1 and Mk2's are popular, as are 205 GTI's, not sure about Renaults though other than specialist dealers. Basically anything decent will end up over there, which is probably why their are no Vauxhalls or Rovers as they are all shite.

The roads over there are more suited to high power high capacity engines though

93MON is equal to 99RON.

Vauxhalls are sold there under the Saturn brand. You can buy an Astra in the US. And small cars are becoming sought after there. Better fuel economy etc. The new Fiesta is supposed to be very popular out there at the moment.

Renault has an official presence in Oz though, so that's a bit different. iirc the 197, 225 and Diesel RS Meg is officially available.

Seen loads of interesting European stuff dotted around in NYC, especially in parts of Brooklyn. Classic Minis are more common than you might think (new ones are obviously everywhere), and they are mad for Smart Cars (officially available, iirc). Never seen a Renault over there, though.

Golfs have always been available in the US, so they don't count.

I remember watching a video ages ago of some yank in London, pointing and laughing at a Smart car. I never thought they'd even consider selling them state-side purely for that reason.

Mini JCW you can brand new, classic Mini will be easy. Definitely can't pick up RS Clios over there though, second-hand or brand new.
