Hey guys, I set this weekend aside to give my newly acquired 172 a damn good going over. I had clayed her last week so I managed to pull her straight in & give her a quick waterless wash. Was absolutely peeing it down :dapprove:

Here's how my weekend went! :approve:

Saturday, 9.15 am she was rolled in -

Tbh she really wasn't that bad at all. So out with the PTG which was standard readings on these things, more or less.

A few patches of bird etching here & there. Out with the sandpaper, 2000 through to 3000

Breakfast! Naughty but nice

Rest of the car was machined with a mixture of Scholl, Menz & Megs on a variety of dodo & 3m pads :thumb: Then refined with 205, came up lovely. Gave the Autosmart towels a going over too, very much like them.

In between each stage I like to wipe down with z6. Then I applied Z2, two layers an hour in between. Big thanks to Alex for still being at his unit, I ran out!

All done, pulled her out with the help of planks again & headed up for some piccies. The Vee is filthy! I apologise!

Cheers! :o

Great. I'd love to give you my pearl black 172 and do your thing. Maybe one day I'll leave it with you.

Oooft. Nice. Would you have prefered your V6 in flame red over black?

Beautiful colour my friend. Good work too!

Whar airfield are you at to take pictures? I'm assuming it's not public access

Cheers buddy, that's a tough one. I'm not sure tbh!

Love it.

why did you have to sand the etching out? Would a polish not suffice?

Nope, wouldn't touch it! :/

Beautiful colour my friend. Good work too!

Cheers! It's at Wycombe air park. Not public access no. I used to work there & still have access :)

You also remove less microns by sanding first rather than heavy compounding.

Stunning Dawn. So reflective, the V6 is on another level though. Where is the tyre shine though!!!

On the vee? She was filthy from the prestcott hillclimbe a few weeks back! Covered in mud! Waiting for the right weather conditions to clean her, black is a slut! Flol

I'm amazed the Vee is dirty!!!

Nice work on the flamer though. It's looking sweet now. It'll look stunning when you get the wheels back.

She looks kinda clean. :o That's why I mentioned it! Thought you had given her a wash and wipe down!

Red. ;)

Thanks guys :)

Anthracite or silver of course! ;)

Leave the V dirty. Suits you...

No, really :p

Red one looks nice - good work. Will look tidy on the other wheels once back.

Can't wait to see the for sale thread :approve:

Honestly, I'm keeping her. As long as she gives me no major troubles she's a keeper :approve:

Can't wait to get the alloys back! What's a good sealant for wheels these days? Should never have sold my Autobahn wheel wax, smelt epic & worked a treat.

My goodies will be arriving this week :D

C5 if you can afford the time - I'd go insane from the many many spokes to cover !!

My scoob wheels are still looking great ~3 years on. Winter wheels too..!

cheers boy, I'm picking up some Exo for this weekends detail so I'll get some C5 too

Awesome work as always!

It would look truly stunning on minty minty fresh silver standard wheels that's for sure!

Seems a bit counter intuitive. I didn't realise compounds were more abrasive than wet and dry!

Compounding will remove more micorns whilst trying to remove the etching. Just one of those things, The way the products works. KDS have also tested it and PB use the same train of thought!

I really don't see the fascination with the standard 172 wheels. I just took mine off of the flamer and put some anthracite turinis on and imo they look top.

The reason I don't get the fascination is because I cant see the difference between a normal clio and an rs clio with regards to alloys.

Not saying it is wrong to like them at all btw but if someone could tell me why, maybe I will ;)

2118's are going to look much better than the standards imo
