Clio wont start square icon with a zig zag, what doest this mean ?

It was fine last night.

just been putting the plastic covers back on around steeing column and now i have this icon and the car wont start.

also had the injector rail off last week but re-fitted and it started last week.

any ideas people ?

As above. The simplest option is to get it plugged in at Renault, but they'll charge an arm and a leg. Common problems with this light are usually the coil or TDC sensor, but it could be anything.

Electrical fault light, get it up on mine every so often but the cars got no problems so ive ignored it. When its been on the clip it can never find any data showing it as it for some reason doesnt log it. If its after removing plastic trim around the wheel etc it could be you have tripped a fuse maybe, did you put the plugs back in correctly as they might be loose, or maybe even your immobiliser ring around the ignition barrel isnt put back on correctly.

By start up what do you mean? Is it engaging starter motor and then just failing?

i did take the ring of the ignition barrell, it could be this is not correctly installed, will have a paly and see if this helps.

it must be somethink to do with this as its the only thing i have done tonight is took the ignition barrell ring of and put the steering column plastic covers back on

It should slide bak on and then click into place when its on there properly

Is there a solid red light on the speedo anywhere at all, or flashing and then when you go to start the car it will stay solid and the car wont start? If so then it will definately be this.

they don't click in, but you can't put them on wrong tbh. Where are you located finch?

removed the immobiliser barrel and clicked it bak in but still have the electical fault and it wont start.

I also put the windscreen wiper motor and mecahnism back in and the wipers on.

Only one of the wiper blades is working, could it be somethink to do with this ? is there fuses i could check ?

could it be TDC sensor people go on about ? would this cause the car not to start ?

checked fuses, disconnected battery for an hour no joy ! just plugged diagnostic into it PO500 SPEED SENSOR A FAULT ? Is this why it wont start or is this a seperate issue ?

Im having exactly the same problem. Just refuses to start, Fine the night before. Very strange.

I to have the orange electrical fault light. Ive checked the tdc and cleaned it. Made no difference.

Whats this speed sensor then?

As above, the light you are seeing is the electrical fault warning light so there will be a fault with either a component or the wiring somewhere.

Putting it on a "Clip" or similar equipment will not necessarily detect/diagnose this issue and it needs looking at by someone with an electrical eye that knows these cars inside out. I do this on a regular basis for a lot of local garages who have no time for electrical issues... had a 407 in on Monday that wouldn't start on the key and it needed a new ignition switch as a contact had failed but as no fault codes came up with it "general" garages are unable to perform proper diagnostic session.
