Clio your best car?

  Bora TDI - (ex172)
I'm new and just wandered whether or not the Clio was/is your best car? obvisouly I'm expecting some bias opinions here. But out of my list of cars, its a toss up between my ph2 172 and my 306 gti-6.

my cars:

Fiat Tipo 1.6
Ford Orion 1.4L
miami blue 205 gti 1.6
VW Corrado 2.0 8v
VW Golf GTI mk2
Pug 306 gti-6
Toyota Celica Cab

now the Clio

my clio has been the most reliable, fastest, comfortable car to date, but my 1988 E plate orion 1600i was the BESTEST car i've owned.

I'm with you on that superfastdan.

my maroon, rusty arched, E plate Orion was a little beast that just wouldn't break. :D

  Red Clio 197 F1
Difficult one, but over all its package is the best.

Cars owned in order:
Fiesta Mk1 1.3 Ghia - most loved (1st car)
Pug 305 GTXi - most practical
Pug 205 1.9 GTi - the best fun
Pug 306 XTDT - very economical
Williams 2 - most street cred
Pug 206 GTi chipped (165bhp) - most boring
Alfa GTV 3.0v6 - most emotional & expensive to run
Phase 1 172 - best all round package.

  106 GTi
Think my 205 1.9 GTi and 309 GTi's both gave the same smiles per miles, handled on par or maybe better in the 309's case but both lacked power of the 182, and the 205 also lacked the luxery of the 182.

In an ideal world all 3 would still be on my drive.

A much better car than my Astra GTE and 306 Xsi 16V.

  Golf R/Leon FR
ive only ever had clio's lol

H reg 5 door 1.2 RL
X reg 1.2 8v MTV
X reg Ph-quick

definatley the best car ive had :)

  Clio Dynamique 1.2 16v
This is defiantely my best car....ive only had one other lol

and that was a r reg fiesta zetec, was a good motor, and i had no problems with it. but the clio is, more modern, smoother to drive, comfortable, more equipped lol.

so my best is the clio

  UR R26R.5, VW Golf R
Vauxhall Nova 1.4SR
Vauxhall Nova 1.4SR
Citroen AX GT
Vauxhall Nova GSi
Vauxhall Cavalier GSi2000
Renault Clio Williams 3
Renault Clio Williams 3 - Close to 2nd best :)
Renault Clio 182 - 2nd best
Subaru Impreza P1 - The best I'll probably ever own!

  RB 200 Cup!
my clio is the first car ive owned but used my older bro's 1.2 16v corsa sxi - my clio is by far the better car. The corsa was shite

Best for smiles per gallon - Clio 172
Best for pimping hard - Passat 1.8t
Best for street cred - Mk1 Golf GTI

  Black Twingo GT
My Cars..

Fiesta 1.1 Pop Plus (XR2 interior, wheels etc)
Orion Mk1 1.6 Ghia (Twin Webbers)
Escort XR3i MFi (Lowered to the deck)
Escort RS Turbo (Turbo Systems ECU etc)
Fiesta Mk2 XR2 (Rusty as fook)
Orion 1.6i Ghia
Fiat Punto GT (16" Wheels, chipped, d.valve, stainless, spax adjustables)
Polo 1.3 Ranger (Well I went to uni and it fell to bits)
Toyota 1.3 GL (to replace said Polo)
Clio 182 Cup

I liked my orion ghia (none injection), went like s**t off a shovel, ended its life with a fiesta parked in the boot.

I Loved my Escorts, the RS was not as cool as the XR3i though...one of those decisions you make with your heart not with your head.

I loved my XR2, if the floor had actually stayed in it then I would have said that was my favourite.

The Punto and the Clio are on a par I would say, performance, they are both rapid....shame they made the later models so cr*p.

Though I love my Cup you just don't get that sound from a none turbo'd motor.

Touch and go I would say as to it being the 'best' car I've owned....

  A4 Avant & A3
i think my 172 cup has been my best..
The list is only small:

Y reg Mk1 Fiesta 950cc!!
C Reg Mk2 Fiesta 1.4s (fake xr2 lol)
E Reg Pug 309 GTI (may not look the best but lovely trouble free fun cars, well mine was)
51 1.2 16v clio dynamique (was nice to have a new car, but bit of a step down in performance from the pug)
M Reg 1.4Si Fiesta (had the mrs old car when she bought a new one)
53 Plate 172 cup - been lovin' it since August 2005

  Bora TDI - (ex172)
just out of interest more than anything, and i realise i may get slated here, cos I think you either love 'em or hate 'em, has anyone ever owned a series 1 Escort RS turbo?

always wanted one but can't afford the stupid prices they're fetching for Mint examples, just wandered what the general consensus was?

  ClioSport 182
My 182 is not perfect and the common faults are well known. It's close to being my BEST car, but... my Sierra Sapphire 2.0L GLS takes the prize. Bullet proof and quick and I had it when I was 23 years old!

KnightAzul

  Clown Car
I regard my best car as the one that did not cost a lot to run -

1987 Rover 213 S that i had as a run around for a year in 2000, paid £100 for it as it had stood for 3 years, put the original battery back on it and it started after 3 attempts, got it through it's MOT, spent about £150 on it over the year for tyres, exhaust, oil, filters, cambelt(changed that myself), etc, and sold it for £250 a year later, never let me down once.

Nah, Clio is a good car but only got it has a first car but its good, Like my dads Laguna 2.0 RXE m plate better, so much faster lol,
Wanna get a car I've always wanted next a Astra 2.0 16v SRi

  Monaro VXR
Mk2 Golf 1.8 (had some issues)
Fiat brava 1.6 (great car never missed a beat in 3 years)
Nissan Almera 1.8 (same was perfect the 3 years we had it)
Clio 1.2 16v (fun car for what it was more fun to drive than my current daily car.)
Citroen C4 Coupe 1.6 (Another good car had a couple of recalls for airbag deployment etc but to be expected with a brand new design but build quality wise its great puts my clio to shame)
Also have a chevy tacuma 2.0 on the drive but its bloody awful great for my mum who needs it for her wheelchair but when i have to drive it i cringe i also usually forgot im driving a crappy handling people carrier which resulted in some rather scary moments on a windy A road.

Best most fun car though? Is actually the slowest

My 1.1 Fiat Cinquecento Sporting. Its so much fun love driving it. Seriously cant beat that car for smiles.

Gonna get to drive it a little more over the next few weeks while my C4 is in the bodyshop getting its rear quarter and doors patched up and the front bumper sorted someone screwed my front bumper up and did a runner. Also had someone rip the spoiler off the back of it or at least try dont think they realised its actually bolted to the car not just stuck to the window.

  Clio 182
Upto now definetly my best car but then I havent owned many car's

M Reg Escort 1.4 Saloon
M Reg Clio 1.4 RT
04 Reg Clio 182

  Renault 5 GT Turbo
Owned the following.

'E' Fiesta MK2 950cc (Indestructable)
'W' Renault Clio 1.2 MTV (Nice to have modern car, performance disapointing on par with the Fiesta! Rattled a lot)
'G' Peugeot 205 GTI 1.6 (Most fun, still have it now)
'G' Peugeot 205 GTI 1.9 (More fun, but was a complete dog!)
'H' Renault 5 GT Turbo (Rapid and very rattly, best car so far......when it works. Keeps up with 172s aswell and is 'kind of' related to a Clio.)

  Massey6465 & saxo1.1
Id put mine in this Order:

Williams -For the ability to make me feel special and STILL make me smile allmost everytime I use it.
Xr2 Turbo Technics -Soooo much fun having a sleeper.
s2 RS Turbo-Brilliant when It was running rite.
Valver-Cheap to insure, really quick and great handling.
Xr2
XR3i- a classic!
WRX
GT Turbo
GTE Astra
Xr2i
Citroen BX

  RS Meg 175
Thats the worst thing about my one ^^^ lol bloody thing taps all day long. :)
My Clio is my fave <<<<
Heres a list of my Cars:

1.2 16v 2001 Renault Clio Sport

That just about raps it up ;) lol

'M' Rover 418 1.8 TD - one word: boring! But was officially parents car
'R' Fiat Punto 1.1 SX - slow
'S' Fiat Punto 1.2 16v Sporting (85bhp) - lots of fun to drive but not enough power. Far more reliable than my current Clio, over 5 years of ownership no issues whatsoever
'Y' Astra 1.6 16v SXI - utter crap, hated it with a passion.
'04' Clio 172 - like my Punto (so much fun) but with the power.

Overall my Clio is definately the "best" car I've owned: most fun to drive, quick, just wish it was better put together and was more reliable :D

  Scirocco GT 210
The only other car I've ever owned myself was a fiesta zetec 1.4, which my clio d**ks all over in every department.

So yeah, it's the best so far.

  K20 EG Hatch
97 Clio 1.4 Maxim S - First car, really liked it but it used to rev on its own and the sunroof leaked like a b*****d. As soon as i got a better job i replaced it with:

52 Clio 1.2 16V Dynamique - Loved it, felt like driving a Merc compared to the mk1 clio. Coilover'd, exhaust, tints, ice install etc etc... Then got stolen off my drive!

04 Clio 1.2 16V Dynamique - Same as above, coilovers, exhaust, OZ's, ice etc etc....

54 Clio 182 - Hit a deer 9 hours after collecting it, nuff said.

04 Clio 182 - Had it over three months, H & R coilovers, prospeed cat back, subtle tints and ice. Fuckin love it! :) Im sure it will be the best car i own for a while.

Oh yeah, im 20 :D

  RenaultSport clio 172 mk2
'G' Fiesta 1.1 PP - Got thrashed bumped and battered.
'S' Rover 214i - Pretty nice and nippy for a 1.4, never any big problems on it apart from usual little niggles.
'04' 172 - had it 1 week and i think it will be a long time before i stop smiling when im driving it.

Congratulations ;) :rasp:

Most fun: Racing Puma (had 2, both as brilliant as each other)
Quickest: BMW M Roadster
Solidest: Audi S4
Most ownership appeal: Clio V6 (had mk1 & mk2, both do it)

Most dissapointing: VW Golf VR6 (my fault, was hoping for a hot hatch)

My old 182 doesn't make any of the above, even though it was a 'good all rounder'

  535d / t5 caravelle
best in order, i think, but the last one is RIGHT!

williams 3 ( valver handled much better, but had modded suspension, this will no doubt be much better once coilovered :) )
clio 16v ( awesome car )
205 gti 1.9 ( debatable between the 2 gti's? both very capable )
205 gti 1.6
nova 1.4 sr ( was a good laugh in its day )
sapphire cosworth rwd 420 bhp ( money draining, piece of f*cking s**t, what a load of w*nk, dont get me started, just stay well clear of them, imo! )

  E90
Mine was, until the present Golf came along. I loved the clio never tired of driving it in 120,000 k's and 3 years, but the golf is awesome, gets better and better, and the build s.hits on the renault, despite it being in the garage and having dodgy silly faults like the rear wiper coming on when its not suppose too, and the most stupid key fob door opening system ever.

I like my Clio 172 very much its fast and reliable, but my bestest car ive owned was my 1st car a 1987 Renault 5 GTS Panache :)

  Renaultsport Clio 182
Do love my 182, though I'd still say my Peugeot 106 GTi was my best car, great performance, and so much fun.

1) Mk1, Phase3 Clio 1.2

My first car. I had to change a wheel bearing, a centre section and a starter motor whilst I owned it during 3/4 years. I really miss that car - it was just awesome.

2) Clio Williams 3

Mechanically, sound. Only had to replace the alternator - drove absolutly mint. Superb.

3) Clio Williams 2

Broken. It's ok now, but it's cost me a fortune.
Like, if I knew what this car was like 2 years ago, I'd still be in my Williams 3.. but hey, you learn :p
