Right, @
Corby G I'm going to have to spell it out a little, as you seem to be ignoring everyone.
1) You
CAN do a cambelt with no locking tools, a couple of screw drivers and some tipex, the car will probably even run, but it won't be right. This is the point they're making. Kwik Fit
AS A COMPANY will not stock the specialist Renault tools to do the job correctly. People are trying to drive you away from Kiwk Fit because if the job is not done properly, it'll be a proper fight to prove they did it wrong and get it paid for by them to do it properly.
2) A lot of what you've written doesn't make sense. Are they saying the aux belt took out the cambelt? If so, it's almost 1000% certain to not just be fit some new belts and away you go. It'll have bent valves etc, but they seem to be COMPLETELY ignoring this (instant concern). So they're either just trying to con you with a timing belt change, or they're going to fit a new belt, start it up, and batter your engine some more.
3) They're replacing pump bearings? Make sure they charge you for the anti slip grease that goes with those...
They should just be replacing the pump if necessary.
