clios & r5’s

Went to santa pod with the rtoc the other weekend, I get along realy well with every one in the club but when asked what motor I had there attitude totally changed. All I said was CLIO, and anyone would think id jus shot them in the foot!

I thought the r5 was supposed to be the predessor to the clio but they treat us like we own SAXOS

So whats the score!

Maybe theyre jealous? Seems odd as most Clio owners look favourably on 5s and their owners. Lots of Clio owners have also owned 5s and vice versa.

AFAIK its not all 5 owners who are like that. You must have been just unlucky to meet a few who were a bit defensive? After all, theyre old cars, and its not as if Renault still make them any more.

Well RTOC must be at least 85% 5 GTTs, and i guess there must be less than 30 Clio turbos kicking around on there in one form or another. Maybe when a few Clio turbo owners (GTT engined or otherwise) start putting some decent 1/4 mile times in they might be more respectful

For the most part they are a good bunch from my experience. Maybe you were speaking to the more purist, keep it as Renault intended bunch, not the lets mod it so itll go fast bunch?

Out of interest, how come youre an RTOC member anyway?

im sorry u must of been talking to some strange rtoc people then, as im a member and they all know i have a clio and i have been to loads of meets and i have NEVER had a bad word or any 1 turn around and talk to me less because i own a clio, i also know of 2 other clio owners in rtoc that get as much respect as if they owned a gtt,

one of my mates has a tub 5, so go along to all the meets with.
