Closest to standard/OEM exhaust backbox for 220 trophy

  Clio RS 220 Trophy
Hi all.

I need to find an exhaust backbox/silencer replacement for my Mk4 220 Trophy as there's an exhaust leak in this section causing an MOT fail on the lambda test.

Currently have the stock exhaust on there and can't seem to find a standard or OEM replacement. With a genuine Renault one it'll have to be the full exhaust system which they've quoted over £2k and I'd rather avoid this option.

Any recommendations for an aftermarket part that sounds closer to stock? Or even a place to get an OEM one for less.

You can get a full scorpion system for a fraction of the OEM price.

Or you could get a local exhaust firm to fab you a back box up to your specifications.

Thanks! I actually saw this one on the Scorpion site and ebay.

Was also looking at this Bastuck Sports Backbox as an option for just the backbox. But I guess the full Scorpion system is the better buy here.

Might be a silly question but would this cause any legal issues, like with MOTs and insurance?

If there is a problem with the lambda sensor reading effecting emissions, I doubt it would be the back box? Surely it would be by the cat or secondary cat? The lambda sensor is at the front. I had my backbox modified and altered and never had a problem, I also removed my secondary cat and also had no problems.

Sorry might not have explained it properly at first! From my understanding (and I'm no expert at all) - the leak is what caused the lambda test fail, so no issue with the sensor. Tech said no issue with the sensor and they found the leak at the backbox.

Also there's a separate issue with one of the tailpipes so I think that's why they recommended replacing that bit.

Any aftermarket system will change the sound and make it louder, possibly minor increases but an increase.

You're going to be spending at least £500 going aftermarket.

Just weld the hole.

I would definitely take it to a local automotive welder and get him to weld it back up. Then take it back for the mot.
