  Clio 182 FF Orange
Hi Guys

My Clutch has now done 112k and is still ok but i have noticed is getting heavy so maybe its time for a new one

Where is the best place that wont rip me off and replace everything as it currently sits (starter heat sheild etc.)

Any ideas on cost ?

Please let me know i am based in Northants

Thanks

No it is exactly as it has always been i just thought its done a lot of miles so it surely must be replacement time?

Or do i leave it until it slips? and maybe just change the cable in the mean time ? as i have noticed today that the litlle rubber bit on the cable end has split where attaches to the fork!

Leave it imo. Sure there's cars with higher mileage still on the original. Mines on 108k and still perfect (touch wood)

I always tell people that the clutches aren't supposed to be heavy. Let me fit a new one for you and you'll put your foot thru the floor at first press!

If be interested to know this also. My cars on 75k and feels ok (if on the slightly high side) but heard clutches can go as low as 30k?!

Had mine replaced today original on 90k , it wasn't slipping and was working fine but it was heavy and sticky . Turns out the release bearing was stuck

I had a look at it on some threads on this site and changing it looks an absolute mare!!!

When it finally expires it will be going to a specialist for def!!!

Interesting to see a specialist say that. I've felt someones clutch after having it replaced with a Valeo one and it was considerably lighter. Any more info on why they're so heavy out the box?

Age, the pressure plate just gets old but it doesn't stop them functioning.
