Cobra Alarm Problem.........

Car  BMW F31
as title, my alarm is working itermittently, sometimes it locks via RCL sometimes not, seems to work/help if i slam the glovebox lid as the alarm module is above it under the dash.

took it all out at the weekend and had a good look at the module, all cables etc looked fine and well seated in the module.

anyone got any ideas why it could be doing it?

i was thinking maybe the battery in the car is low?

i have changed the battery in the key already :)

Check the car battery
However the RCL doens't work off the alarm check the UCh IMO for loose wires/wet etc.

uch being the use box?

i have narrowed it down i think to the use box as when i wiggle the wires etc and relays it seems to be ine until i go over a ew bumps etc and then it starts playing up again.

edde do you have a wiring diagram or any idea which cable i should be looking to to see i its loose?

edit. one o my keyboard keys isnt working, hope you can tell which one it is :)

anyone got any ideas? Got home tonight. Locked it up. Checked it unlocked etc. Went to just unlock it and i wont unlock. I'm getting really pissed off with it now.

lol just went to unlock it and it worked fine, gonna pull the fuse on the alarm later and wait till i can afford a new uch as i believe this is the problem.

anyone think it may be the fuse?

just to let people know in case they do a search,

i pulled the fuse out of the alarm module (in effect stopping the alarm and sensors etc) and i've not had one problem with the RCL since!

Piece of crap cobra alarms! clifford or toad is going to be replacing it!

ok the problem is back lol!

i give up with this french piece of s**t! i used to love my clio and now with all the problems i've had i hate it!

quite upset really, but i think german is the way forward next!

Tbh mate its probably just the cobra alarm. Their shite in my experience, i had one on my old mk1 and i had to recode the fob 4 times because it kept loosing the code to unlock the car, stupid piece of s**t.

Rip the thing out and carry on lol. Or take it to an alarm specialist.

well i have disconnected the alarm but only by pulling the fuse, do you think the cabling that is still there could be causing a problem?

ye probably cause even if its disconnected by the fuse it will still immobilise ur car otherwise they would be pointless. Id give an alarm specialist a bell or get an auto electrician out to ya to have a look at it.

well........

changed the gearbox mount yesterday noticed the negative battery terminal was loose.

after changing the mount etc the central locking "seems" to be working, dont wanna jinx it yet though lol.

the only prob i have now is i took the fuse out last weekend, put it back in yesterday but the alarm isn't working :s

dont know why this is though :(

lol, well the central locking has been fine for a week and a half but it has had the odd occasion where it wont unlock so i have just used the key, it didnt want to work last night, so i banged under the glove box and it started working again, im definately sure its a loose connection now, but i have no idea about how to go about finding the open circuit?

i'd still like my cobra alarm to work so im gonna whip out the dash again at the weekend and inspect the little bugger.

if anyone has any ideas on how to source the loose/open circuit could you please let me know :)

ok so i "think" i've sourced to a little black box (relay), clipped onto the heating ducts under the centre console, part no. is 7700311966, thought it might be the block connector that plugs into the relay, cut it off and crimped some decent connectors on, no joy as it stopped me getting into it this morning.

i now think its the actual relay, so ordered a new one from the stealers, £24.30, got to wait till tomorrow to see if it works :)

recently i have had to get really close to the car to get the central locking to work, now on removal of the base of the relay the circuit board has a loop of metal so i'm pretty sure its the receiver for the key.

fingers x'd people!!!! :D

seems to be ok ;)

anyone need any pics to see exactly what im referring to let me know, as i know a few people on here are having similar problems.
