Coilover Decision Time

  Clio 197 R27 Albi
Right I will keep it simple...
-I want to use them for some track use and mainly road use.
-Ast's/H&R/KW V 2's/Konis? These the good ones?/Missed any?
-Got about £800 for them at the mo dont wanna push it to £1500 for Ast's though.

Ideal, Help, Experience please :)

Cheers

First thing to consider is whether you have the cup packs or not, then ure choice gets smaller if you do have the cup packs?

AST's are available for the Cup, as are H&R's.
K-tec are developing a set as we speak and so are V-maxx which may be worth considering?

  182, SQ7, Trafic
I don't know if you can get them but the FK Konigsports from Venom are around £700 and excellent kit!

Well i have H&R's but they are a tiny bit soft for track work imo, If you can save a bit more and get the AST's. Then you know you'll have the best of the best :)

I've owned AST's, H&R's, and KW V2's. IMO, KW V2's are the best. For your car, you'd need to change the hubs for them (as they don't come in 182cup fitment).
Here's some for sale with the hubs etc, basically everything you'd need

If not get H&R's. The AST's are poorly set-up (again, my opinion). Very stiff/firm on the front, I spent all my time trying to quell understeer. The suppliers were shocking as well, couldn't set them up correctly. Was told twice that I had a bent rear axle by them, have had alignment done several times since, no bent rear axle and the car drives straight (which is nice tbh).
Have you considered the Bilstein? Slightly firmer version of the H&R's.

Why does it matter how much they lower?

You after show or go?

IMO i don't see how anyone can drive a car on it's arse fast on normal roads. But agree slight lower is good.

If you go too low, bump steer becomes an issue. Mine's not exactly low, but the handling's great.

Also does the Bilstein kit fit the 182 with cup packs as on the website it says same fitment for 182/ 182 Cup / Trophy :S:S?

Same hardware, but I believe the damping is slightly firmer on the Billies, and different springs. Icarus ran the Bilstein for a while, rated them very highly iirc.
