Coilovers- Cup differences

  EP3 Civic Type R
Just before I order my Coilovers I want to be fully sure I'm getting the correct ones! I've done a search but not come up with much, sorry guys!

Been in contact with the company I'm buying off... as the listing only lists them as...

Fitment: Renault Clio
Mk2 2.0 16v (1998 >)

I contacted them explaining I had a 02 172 Cup and would these fit my car ok and was there any difference in ordering with me having the Cup, to which I got a very quick and informative email back saying these will fit the Cup fine.

Am I ok to order- just wanted to check before I flash the cash.

£395.00 seems to be a bargin - you will still have to get them chamber adjusted may cost around £200.

It's not going to cost me £200 to have them set up LOL.

I've had coilovers on my Valver. Price is good and as it's only a road car I can't justify spending much more... what I'm wanting to check is that they'll be ok for the Cup u see mate

That'll be standard suspension only mate.

FK dont make suspension for cups i dont think!

I have Konigsports but they had to be modified by redrilling one of the holes at the bottom of the front shocks!

I had the camber/tracking setup by laser alignment on mine for about £50 at ProTyre.

Hmm cheers mate. What's the difference between the Cups then? I had a feeling they might not be all universal... which is dissapointing as the price is awesome

Just been looking on Ktec and the FK's they have listed, adjustable and fixed, all seem to be for both 172 FF and Cup. Maybe there isn't a difference?!

Cups have got a wider axel and are very slightly lower and have different bolt spacing on the shocks.

You can see in the pic where the bottom hole had to be "moved" and then a washer was welded over it for extra support.

I know they are different on the 182/182 Cup (think there is about 4mm difference)... and everyone seems to list them seperate but even Yozza seems to have one listing for both versions of the 172.

I'm not shunning your help or advice mate, I really appreciate- I'm sure people on here have FK's on the 172 Cups though.

Thanks for your help so far!

how much have you been quoted for, as me and neil aka phree-bone got our fk konigsports for our ph1 172s from a very good contact for £500 delivered and i got mine within 14days

Limca... £395... which I think is hellishly good! It's a road going car and for the odd trackday I may do I think the highsports will suffice.

Schweppy, thank you for all your help. Finally found a guide. All Mk2 Sports are 54mm (all versions) but, as you've said with the 182cup/ff there is a variation of 4mm.

Thanks everyone- think I'm safe now!

172 and the Cup are both the same, 54mm lower bolt spacing. The wider track on the cup is given by using ET37 Turinis rather than the ET48.5 FF wheels.

Lol at the misguided replies at start of the thread!

All 172 coilovers will fit the cup. Careful with the cheap fk's though, as apparently they corrode.

Ahh they tried there best! I believed they were all the same (the 172's but wanted help)- I'm willing to listen to anyone who wants to help!

I've heard mixed about FK's, but eventually I'm sure I'll want to upgrade. For now, I'm sure they will do me fine- thanks guys.

Do they still come with the botle of lube to stop them rusting?

(this isnt a lube joke btw, they actually do)

Ooh I'm not sure... sounds interesting though lol.

Seems to be alot of 'lube' flying around CS tonight. More than usual, anyway!
