coilovers damage what?

  Polo + Micra
i've had my coilovers on my car for a a while now(probably 2 years) and i'm really starting to think that they have worn a few things out on the front.

now ever since i snapped both my drive shafts it aint really instilled me with confidence on the road

and now i've noticed over the past week the steering is starting to cluck like f**k when turning and hard braking is just skitish.

is there anything i could look at myself to see of it's worn/loose?

my steering is just starting to get 'clunky' on mine, but im hoping its just the anti roll bushes

£20 says your ARB bushes are uber fcuked, i've been through 2 sets

how you've snapped driveshafts i'll never know, i'm still on the originals after 91kmiles, and they rub the chassis legs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  Polo + Micra
lol i was shocked to do both of them

probably the pure aggresive gear changes 24/7 and it's french.

how hard are the ARB bushes to change?

Is it the inner or out which wear? Outer are like the Mk1's arn't that difficult. If its the inner ones then with thicker ARb (as I have ) it will be more difficult
?
I'm thinking mine maybe on the way out but my car didn't have coilovers for long and its on stock suspension although most other bits have been renewed.

my ARB bushes are gone too is it worth going for the poweflex uprated ones or just go for standard ones?

also edde you say you have the thicker anti-roll bar do 1.4,1.6 and diesels have thicker ones or somthing?

powerflex anti roll bar bushes are well worth the money £45 for anti roll bar, dont buy the wishbone bushes they squeek like mad!! you need to lube them to stop them squeeking once a week or so with wd40.

you can buy a 25mm anti roll bar from the 172 but you need all new anti roll bar bushes and mounts not worth it for 2mm (23mm normal mk2) and powerflex dont make bushes for the 172 they say they do but they dont fit!

I've checked them all some time ago. There are a few different sizes ones the dci has a 24mm thick one which is the thickest in the range but I don't think it will directly fit a 172/182.

cheers mate till go for the anti roll bar bushes, as for hte wishbone ones, not so sure anymore on them! cant you use anything other than wd40 to lube them that lasts longer since wd40 just dries up?

are they worth the money if you forget about the sqeeking? the wishbone ones i mean

yes in my opinion they have tightened up the front end and they dont perish like rubber mounts esp the outter anti roll bar bushes i was on set number 3 in 3 years.
the power flex ones are easier to fit that the standard as the bolts are longer so you dont have to clamp up the bar as much
