Common fault or dealer con ??

Went for a service on the 172 and apparently i need new axle bushes (trailing arm bushes) as there starting to split my local dealer say.


New one on me this so i decided to decline there offer of handing over 240 notes and have a look to see what the 'problem' was exactly. couldnt really find anything wrong, infact, at all !! Not sure if im looking in the wrong place or what.

Has anyone else had this problem?? is it a known wear and tear fault??

Or does it look like the dealer has tried to fleece me ??

Cant tell from that pic, have you had any knocking at all from the back, more so on bumpy corners?

By the looks of them it looks like you have already had a new bolt in there.

No its totally fine. Dealer said the rubber was split and said i need them replacing.
Iv checked all around the rubber and its fine!!

Dont know what there going on about lol

Never heard anyone post up about this axle bush before so was wondering if this is a common part that needs replacing after a while due to wear and tear or something that dosent normally wear out?

Garages will do this to try and make money out of unsuspecting customers.
I took my old 172 in once for an oil and filter just for the stamp in the book and they wanted to charge me over £100 for some new break pads and then said the technition would'nt drive the car until it was done because it wasnt safe.(wtf) 3mph round the garage floor in a dealer.
There just trying to con you .I went and picked the car up myself and went to wolverhampton which was my next nearest dealer to telford and they were faultless(main dealer too)and hence the reason i got my 182 from them aswell
Try and find a main dealer/good renault garage,its worth the extra miles in the long run
