what are they? i know quite alot about ICE but this has always baffled me. im thinking of getting some soon and just wondered what the black box is in this picture http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/popup_image.php?pID=5770

component relates to a part of a system, so when it comes to speakers it means your speakers have been split into tweeter and loudspeaker. rather then just a composite which does all, if you have ever heard the phrase "2 heads are better then one" then you can relate it to this. The two parts are designed to do different jobs with the use of a crossover so each component can be designed to be more efficient rather then just having one cone that does all. P.s the black box is the crossover.

ahh i understand now. thankyou. so where do the crossovers go when you fit them into the car?

where ever you can fit them, either in the door cards or hidden under the dash. When I spoke to Fisal at Car audio security he said it will cost me £200 to fit them, I laughed at him and told him to do it for £80. They basicly split the feed to form the headunit to the individual components.
