Any recommendations?

I currently have HK Soundsticks III but both tweeter speaker casings have cracked (they've not been dropped - poor quality IMO).

I'm after something relatively compact. TBH 2.0 would suit better than a 2.1 setup.

Looked at the B&W MM1s but their pretty steep.

Suggest away!!!

I've got an iMac btw (not that it makes a difference).

Got room for an amp or purely after active 2.0?

I think I would need to hear them before buying... Deep bass cannot be much cop surely?

May be but then I'm more than happy to listen to suggestions :)

HK soundsticks sound great its just they no longer look great lol....shame really.

HK are s**t, I've had two separates fail on me.

There is only one option for computer speakers imo, Acoustic Energy Aego M's... these were recommended to me when I asked a similar question on AVForums and they're just insanely good. They rival my Hi-Fi Jamo 365's tbh.

Decided to look up my speakers again after I linked them to you, and read this over on What Hi-Fi...

This system used to be a favourite of ours – that's why it was a 2006 Award-winner. So why the drop to three stars?
The answer lies in the fast-changing standards among desktop speakers. This likeable package is as good as ever, but the standard has risen so sharply it's been overtaken.
Since this was launched, new systems like those from Audioengine and Lars & Ivan have taken the ‘desktop' system closer to true hi-fi than we would have thought possible.

Might even treat myself to one of these sets when I move out

The A2+'s do look very good.

The Ruark's I linked above also get great reviews as do the Q Acoustic BT3's

The B&W MM1's are still quality but haven't been updated since 2010 and as you mention, times have moved on. I'm guessing B&W will be releasing a replacement imminently.
