Cooksport springs - rubbing issues?!

  438'd 182
Hi Guys and Girls,

I have had cooksport springs on my cup packed 182 for about 6 months with no rubbing issues. I recently changed the front dampers for nice new ones. There seems to be alot more roll at the front and now the wheels rub badly under hard cornering.

1) The dampers are now working resulting in more roll?
2) I have 172 cup turini's on the car with 205 section tyres, resulting in them protruding more....Could this be a problem?

Any help would be appreciated everyone!

Thanks,

Tom

You got the correct dampers I assume (part numbers of new match the old?)

Are you running spacers as the rubbing may be caused by the 205 tyre on the Cup rim.

The dampers were fitted at a specialist. I thought only cup dampers will fit on a cup packed car? is it possible to have the incorrect dampers? They do feel REALLY soft....

  172
When I fitted 205 on my turini's they rubbed on cornering, also were fairly new dampers but was perfect on the 195's I had on originly..

I'll put money on if you look it's rubbing where the upper and lower part of the arch joins it that makes sense

  172
Also to add the Cup turini is a wider offset than 182 cup and other variants, hence why a 172 Cup runs 195's as standard and regarding the dampers feeling soft, mine also felt like sponge due to the fact my old ones were fooked so felt stiffer than a p**n stars knob, obviously I was used to the harsh stiff ride so like yourself the softness of new shocks came as a bit of a surprise

Hope that helps clear up your concerns

Cheers Mitch - I might have a look for some correct offset wheels....then you can still run 205 section tyres right? It is rubbing on the front middle of the arch....right cheers guys!!

I recently had new cup shocks fitted front and rear with CookSport springs. Running 205/45's on Cup Wheels with 20mm front spacers and 15mm rears - No issues at all.

If you only changed the shocks then it can't be anything other than the shocks. Few guys have had the same issue now where the bump stops have been left out.

FYI I run et30 16" wheels with 205/45/16 RS-R's (so bigger compared to most road tyres) on sportlines and new cup shocks. It rubs slightly on the arch liner now and again but does no damage to anything. Something I'm willing to live with for big tyre and setup I have.
