cooling engine ideas

DUE TO THE HOT WEATHER DRASTIC MEASURES MAYBE NEEDED

IDEA1: Build an air box around induction kit with cold air pipe. Fill box with ice cubes. Reguarly top up ice cubes.

IDEA2: Build part of my freezer into the engine bay

IDEA3: Get a cold air scoop from underneath car. On 1/4 mile strip lay ice cubes down the strip. Cold air scoop will suck the ice cubes up as going along

IDEA4: Get a few lovely ladies to wave fans around the engine bay ensuring a cool breeze.

IDEA5: Run 1/4 mile on ice skating ring. Ice skating rings are about 1/8 mile so go to end, turn, and come back again (172s have traction control so should get a good time.

IDEA6: All black foam filters should be painted white because white reflects the heat better than black does.

PLEASE ANY OTHER SMART IDEAS ARE MORE THAN APPRECIATED. WE WANNA SHOW HOW GOOD RENAULTS TECHNOLOGY IS AT USC SANTA POD

On a serious note, and this will never work but I cant figure out the reason why..

If you put an intercooler on a normally aspirated engine would it not cool the induction temprature slightly..

Actually I think I just figured this one out myself, the turbo compresses the air generating heat through the compression process. am I right or what ?

Latest development. I have just been told petrol is burning too hot. We are gonna either but ice cubes in petrol tank or try to freeve all the petrol (we discovered a problem. If we freeze the petrol we cant get it in the tank. Our best renault man cxame up with trying to freeze petrol when already in tank.)ITS A WINNER

why not take the front bodywork of with an angle grinder, alowing full cold air access to the engine!!!!

The intercooler is used to cool the air as you quite rightly said compressinga ir heats it up. However an intercooler is quite restrictive, not a problem when you have a turbo forcing the air through but its another matter when its a NA engine sucking air in.

IDEA 8: disconnect air con from cabin, buy charge cooler for turbo(i know you dont have a turbo) connect air con to charge cooler run air through cooler.

Bingo air @ 16c

IDEA 9 run air con directly into tb (not enough air most prob)

Tom, nice idea, aircon straight onto airbox, with a normal front facing hose too, then starts will just take the air from aircon, and once your going this is suplimented by normal air - result :D

With a turbo car this would be like nitrous (inlet charge reduced massivly for a few seconds)

IDEA 8 that is. and its free!!

Someone disagree?

u could grab one of those fag light er fridges then stick it under the engine bay then cut 2 holes in either side one connected to the front behind the bumper and the other to the airbox so the air comes in the fridge gets cooled and then goes in the filter!

yes im crazy but i thought ill join in!

Why?

Fords patented SuperCooler technology cleverly provides a special burst of power for the SVT Lightning concept. Traditional intercoolers dissipate heat from the supercharged air by circulating coolant through a front-mounted, air-cooled radiator. With the SuperCooler system, the vehicles air conditioning system is used to chill a small storage tank of coolant to about 30 degrees Fahrenheit.

On demand, the SuperCooler system switches the intercooler flow from its normal circulation and dumps the chilled coolant into the engines intercooler. In turn, the intercooler dissipates up to 20 percent more heat from the charge air - resulting in a denser air charge.

A green light on the instrument panel indicates the systems readiness. SuperCooler is activated automatically when the driver depresses the accelerator to a wide-open-throttle position

Couldnt you build a nitrogen based air cooler? Sort of a thermos flask/double skinned pipe with a heat exchanger in that is filled with liquid nitrogen?

You could store ice lollies in it as well...
