hey guys, just a couple of questions. heard these things being mention alot around here sio was just curious to know

i hear people say they remove the acousitic valve. what is this? and why do people remove it?

also i hear peopee say they have there CAFs uprated. What are CAFs? and how do they get uprated?

and what is involved in matching inlets?

many thanks

Basically the matching inlets part is matching the inlet manifold top sections to the bottom section internally to improve the air flow. It been known to increase bhp and sees well with a remap.

  MKV GTI
As above for the matched inlets.

CAF stands for cold air feed uprating usually involves rerouting the CAF to a area more prone to draw in more cold air into the engine via the air filter therefore increasing performance and responsivness albeit very slightly with the cliosports!

Acoustic valve I am not 100percent on but it is somthing to do with the induction system and with valve removed again increases responsivness. Jms do an induction setup which is very well regarded and is the ONLY system which is proved to give gains albeit small ones all other setups usually result in more noise and loss of power.

Hope this helps.

I would have thought the Acoustic valve would have had something to do with the sound?

Anyone confirm?

Yeah.

To pass EU drive-by noise regs.

It's a small electrically-operated flap in a box, down by the nearside arch liner. It's the start of the cold air feed to your airbox.

Get a V6 espace airbox and ITG/Pipercross filter as this is basicly the same as the JMS setup minus a silicon hose? Save yourself quite a bit in the mean time as well. I doubt their filter and a silcon hose is gunna give u anymore power, I gained a whole 0.5bhp from my V6 box running the OE filter :)
