Crash last night!

  172 Cup, 1.2 Grande
Had a scary moment last night when me and 2 mate's were in my little fiesta (which had planned to sell and buy 172) were involved with a concrete wall and a metal barrier and nearly a river.

Here is pics of car

We hit the wall and about another 2 feet higher and we would ave been in river. Contact speed was about 35 mph

172 idea is still there as not gonna claim insurance as it would send it through the roof so just gonna cut my losses and weight it in at scrapyard this morning

Not a bad idea not claiming mate, but that's not an old car so must be alright if you can write off 2k worth of car.

What caused you to crash?

If you say 'oil/petrol on the road' then I'll send Gally round to piss on your pillow.

I think you'd be better off claiming TBH.

Reason for accident was slippery road. It is the first car I have written off in 4 and half years driving

Did you smash the windows in the rear? Because they look like if they were done on impact, you were going a hell of a lot faster than you said.

Looks about right for 35MPH imo. Look at the state of the Fiesta after a 40mph crash with a deformable barrier...

To be fair if he's hit a wall at 35mph then I can quite believe that's what it would look like. Remember most crashes don't go from 35 to 0mph in a millisecond because the car is bouncing, rolling etc, this looks like a full on head on crash.

Glad no one was hurt. I can well believe the state of that after hitting a barrier then a wall. Those buggers don't move. I saw a dude reverse into a bollard in a Punto sporting, it caused the exact same dent in it. I've also seen a bent wheel on a Mini which span on water an ploughed into a concrete wall. I think it's feasible at 35mph, especially without any braking before hand, but chances are it could have been a bit faster.

The dint on my clio from 80-0 was less then that.

What engine is it?

It's a 1.4 zetec.

I had a Civic Type R and bought this for a run around until i found a fair decent cliosport i wanted.

I mean i cant remember exact speed cause when your about to crash how many people have a quick look at their speedo to see how fast they were goin lets be honest.

Im just saying it was on a crap road and all i know is that i wasnt going like a bat out nof hell. I few corners before i was travelling at about 35-40 mph so im just assuming that was the sort of speed impact i was travelling

LOL at slippery road caused the accident. Yeah I hate those roads that don't have infinite grip. You should claim compo off the local council. Whiplash and that as well innit.

Damage actually looks quite light for 35mph impact.

What's with all this not believing the speed stuff? 35mph into a solid stone wall is quite quick. The energy has to go somewhere. Cars don't bounce of things. Contrary to modern opinion, they are tin cans designed to crumple up on impact. Try driving your car into a lamp post at 35mph and see what happens. Post up the pics ;)

That's not exactly a new car, so impact looks right for 35ish. Point of contact looks small from the damage, so that wouldn't help. Glad all ok.

You can all have your opinions of how fast that it was but at the end of day i was the one it and not any of you so therefore i should know a little bit more about the accident than any of you

Looks like a 35mph IMO. That would be quite a sizeable impact into a solid wall so looks right to me.
