Crash :(

From now on i will make sure i get the best all round tyre possible. I got budgets for my car and now they are less than predictable in the wet, although with miles on them they're not quite as bad. In the dry they are pretty good though not had any problems, and i can tell when i'm pushing them towards the limit, but definately premium tyres from now on.

I have to say I thought pradas where ok in the wet, in greasy conditions where they are really poor. We used them at Donnington trackday and found they really tricky in the changable conditions.

nope no news yet... there assessing it at the moment so shouldnt be too long hopefully

You're okay, thats the main thing.

Personally id be hoping it gets written off. It means you have to fight for a decent payout but you'll be able to buy something else as crashed cars rarely feel "right" to you as you're so used to it and you'll notice any tiny change.

Gutted mate, was and hopefully is a great little car! What's the word on repair or write off - it you must have an answer from them by now? Or are they draggin their heals?

Never mind mate, chin up! At least you're not hurt, make sure you haggle on the payout if it's not what you want, and don't give in till you're happy. The point of insurance is to put you back to the same place you were in before :) Hope it's not too much of a fight.

When I worked for an insurance company, any repair costs over 60% of the total value was a write off. Not sure if it's this % with everyone, but it's never just if the repair is cheaper at all, we go ahead with it - there is always a % of the value that repairs have to be less than. I know some people are told by the call centre staff that they go with the cheapest, not matter how close, but I'd bet pounds to fruitgums that isn't actually the case :)

Anyway, try an raise a smile and think of it as getting a new blank canvas to work on :)

Gutted! Were all your mods declared and insured? Cooper S to a Lupo seems a big step down, hope you get a decent settlement.

I think the Lupo would be a bad move - it would feel glacial after your Mini, with all it's torque and bhp and I think you'd quickly become irritated by the lack of grunt, moreso just day to day in gear as the Lupo will feel very flat after the Cooper.

Don't make any decisions till you get the insurance coins :)

hmm maybe.. if all goes as planned and my payout is enough to clear my finance i cant start fresh.. can afford about 14k and want something that really turns heads like my mini did.. if all goes to plan anyway which it probably wont!

£14k eh?

Spend £10k and use the rest to clear debt or bank it?

Integra DC5 though, no contest. Looks amazing, 220bhp, LSD, Recaros, rare, amazing handling etc etc etc etc

IMO, anyway.

I just stumbled across some pictures of the Mini when doing a search for something, it really did look fantastic. Were all the mods insured like for like or what mate? It'd be a real gay if you didn't get the coins for all that work though.

I read in the other thread you're looking for a replacement MCS mate? Have you got the word from the insurance yet? Like you said elsewhere, deffo the supercharged one, not the newer turbo'd one, just on looks alone - although I hear the turbo motor is a really fantastic piece of kit, that often makes a lot more power than it really should... But the SC'd ones definately look a lot better just for being that bit smaller, and the clamshell bonnet including the lights that is lost on the new ones is awesome as well hehe :)

not heard from insurance as yet, hoping to hear something today or possibly tomorro... anyone know how long it takes to agree a figure and get the money out cos i've seen a stunning white s on a 06 for 11.5k

was tempted by the newer shape just for the interior mainly... the older mini's is nice but the new one is really nice inside.. plug getting more than 12mpg would but nice but not that fussed...

always wanted a white s originally so might go for it :)

12MPG is awful! lol..

White sounds nice. Dont fancy something else?

You said about turning heads, what about a VX220 or something? £14k would get you a V6.

Or do you just want another f4nny magnet? ;)
