Cup 172 knocking noise when pulling away

J

joe172cup

Hi all, my cup is making a knocking noise anyone got any ideas? It only happens once and is only when reversing or pulling away. The noise only happens once probably more of a clicking noise than a knock was thinking maybe a dogbone mount? Any ideas let me know cheers

Mines doing exactly the same thing but you can only really hear it when you are turning. Im pretty sure its the CV joints on the driveshafts. Someone even told me it could be the gearbox which I highly doubt.

Check your o/s top engine mount hasn't split.. Support the engine with a trolley jack and undo the mount.

Maybe driveshaft I have new top mounts and replaced all mounts yesterday noise is still there how much is a new driveshaft, don't want to keep spending money and time on the car lost interest on keep doing bits and pieces to it!

Have you checked the ball joints?
Also check the front discs have the securing screws in them. Dog bone is worth doing anyway

Ball joints are fine replaced them few months ago for the mot, discs have securing screws in them probably try c.v joints

Your down pipe will be hitting the subframe. Shift the engine forward a bit.
