Cup alternator setup query

I know that the usual way to go is the brackets, belt and alternator from the cup.
Burp has done it a different way using Volvo parts I think and someone else using Saab.

Hope James doesn't mind me borrowing his pics from his thread but why isn't the 5 gtx bracket below used as a cheap alternative more often??

Is there something I'm not catching on to?

does away with the PAS, which most want to keep. It's perfect for a conversion into a mk1 or a 5 though

After a fair bit of research, and questioning matteh, i found out that you can use the brackets from a f7p/r engine, keep the 172 alternator and PAS pump, and do away with the aircon.

Waiting on the set of brackets i bought off f0xy to arrive so i can fit them, and i'll let you know how i get on

Yeah the aircon I never bothered fully hooking back up and dont use so out its coming. The f7p being a volvo 440 and 1.8 16v clio (valver)? the f7r being the 2.0 williams + megane?
Just top and bottom bracket then? Good stuff keep me posted as to how it goes!

yeah f7p (valver) and f7r (williams), need the bottom bracket, PAS pump and tensioner bracket and upper bracket.

hope to have them soon so i can fit them next week

nope, just the bracket, so matteh has assured me, f7p/r and f4r PAS pumps are the same fitment
