STOP!!!

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Just to let you all know that I have now been and checked with Renault, as well as looking on the ACTIS system and the link is NOT meant to be there on a Cup!!!

Believe me, it aint supossed to be there on a Cup (it is on a 172 though) and I have just seen a Renault tech note with my own eyes that states this...

Dont panic... we were mis-informed and its normal!

cos the 172 has abs.
Well my R5 GT Turbo has a similar kind of brake bias valve with the link, but the R5 aint got ABS, so that cant be the reason...

I wondered that. Renault build quality isnt good, but to forget a component on every single car would be rediculous!!

Forums, what a great place for promoting mass panic and hysteria.;)

So does this mean that people can no longer blame that when they crash their cups? ;)

I agree with you all- Reno couldnt put an Airfix kit together properly.

Ive an old 8v Golf (86D) that is lying in my garage, a sin in itself, which is far better crewed together than my 03 Cup. Not just as quick -although not as much off it as youd think- but at least it stays together.

i just checked my cup and it definetly has 1 ,i need to get a shot of ma m8s digi cam to take a pic.

whats going on here guys is it meant to have this or not?

Well my Cup now has it fitted (by Mike172sport) and I tell you it now feels safe when braking and you can feel that the brakes are biased towards the front now. A totaly different car to drive. So unless I am told it has to come out for safety reason it will stay firmly in place thank you very much !

Anyone at donnington can have a look at mine if they like.

A picture of the valve has already been posted on the forum, but I have a picture of the one that does not have the spring attached.
Also have the part number for a new one with the spring fitted as follows

7700425846 it costs around 150.00 inc vat

I have not looked on actis regarding this matter but on the forum it has been said that this is normal for the cups.
So if you dealer says no, try it as a safety issue or if not you will have to pay.
Its not a job you can do yourself as you need brake pressure gauges to check the pressures of the front and rear brakes and set up the adjustment on the valve.

See you all on sunday at donnington.

I will post the picture when the picture uploader is working.

Sureley it would make more sense to place the valve on the cup more so than the 172 as the 172 has abs/esp which will stop the back end from spinning out of control, but the cup has nothing like that so if your rears lock up you might lose control as locked up wheels=molten rubber on the tyres and that dont grip at all.
