Hey, Im looking at getting a 172 cup after christmas with my xmas bonus from work, anyways been doing some insurance searching and the cheapest ive found is £950 with adrian flux, im 21 with 2 years ncb in an IP14 postcode, does this sound reasonable or does anyone know any other good places to look.

its always a hard one with insurance because its very specific to your circumstances, definitely shop around though, i am with greenlight and pay around 600 on my cup (27 with 5+ no claims )

Yeah i might give sky insurance a try see what they can do. I thought greenlight didnt insure cups?

Greenlight didn't used to insure the 172Cup...and I've not heard anything to suggest that might have changed.

I'm with Admiral. Paying slightly more than you but I have no no claims, so worth a try.

second that im with admiral paying about £420 26 years old with 5 years ncd. also they are very good when u claim, escort got written of a few weeks back we got paid out in 2 weeks and a courtesy car 1st thing the next day

Admiral quoted me 1500 quid, i dont mind paying 950 through flux as it sounds like an ok price compared to what some young people are paying on here.
Im currently paying just shy of 600 for mk6.5 fiesta zetec s through aviva so an extra £350 for a car with almost twice the power dont seem to bad.

when you hit 25 your insurance on a 1*2 will go down as they don't like insuring any one under 25 i got mine just before i was 25 and had a hell of a job getting aviva to insure me, this was after they had already given me a quote one of the reasons i would never have insurance with aviva again

im with admiral.. good company had no problems changing my policy from my crappy punto to the cup and im 21... cudnt even take advantage of the free drive away insurance as none of the companys would touch me due to not been 25

In all seriousness, if she has a license and a few years experience then get her on your quote. Mines brought my quote down about £450

I put my mum on mine and it went down 500 quid, shel never be actually setting foot in the car either lol.

I thought their excluded list was set in stone, surely they are doing themselves out of business if they don't properly explain it. :S

Tbh a 21y/o with a cup, to me, that sounds pretty good. I was 22 on a FF182 with 2 years NCB and i was paying £857.

As clio_rt says insurance is always a specific thing. just ring round a few companies, esp those who deal with performance cars theres a list on the forum somewhere with phone numbers.

I've just rang Aviva to get their "deal" for my new rs200, if u can call a deal @ £1722!!!
I'm 35, company car & been driving since I was 17 u would think it would just a little less!!!!!

IP have the safest postcodes there are besides 4 and 25 i think. But that's nacton (brappp brappp aka the a***hole of ipswich)
