CUP mot failure.............yes another 1

well the cup was in for it's first test today having covered 15020 miles in a fraction under 3 years and it failed........the problem was not the usual CUP failure of compensating valve nor was it rear foot brake inneficiency but a non working handbrake on the N/S. This is after having the rear pads and discs changed under warranty only 2 weeks ago.......So I guess my local dealer never even checked/adjusted the handbrake after fitting the new parts even tho I had asked them to............well done.

more than likley a snapped cable, thats the most "other" common failure

the cable is fine chap, when the tester was pulling the handbrake on and off while it was up on the ramps I could see the actuators on both sides moving.

take the cables off the calipers (slaken off the adjuster) pump the pedal a few times re-attach the cables and tightn up the adjuster so the handbrake is ON ON at 4 clicks

job done

It could even be the adjuster screw inside the caliper rusted . Then it'll need strippin down , cleaning up with some emery cloth then greasing .I had one seized like that .
